Need Your Assistance Please...
Some of you are already aware of this, but many of you are not. Since 2006,
I have been thinking about, talking about and gathering information and supplies to start my solitaire league. I have had all of the figures and bases needed for this endeavor for over a year now. The thing about this whole process that has me procrastinating is the painting aspect of it. It was suggested that I have a few other coaches paint a few teams and I do the rest. I considered this, but it just is not the same as something done completely by you. So, I will pay the price and however long it takes me to get this off the ground, I will complete this part of the task and 99.9% of the rest of this project by myself. Having said this, however, I will need your help collecting two pieces of vital information. I need your help locating certain roster information for each of these teams. The only two pieces of information I am missing are: Jersey Numbers and Race of each player As most of you know, when I create a team, these two pieces of information are always at the bottom of the list, if it ever makes it on the list. Your assistance with locating these two pieces of information is greatly appreciated. BTW, Here is some miscellaneous information on how I plan to construct this baby. My solitaire league will consist of the following from each franchise: (1) The best team to have won a superbowl (2) The best team to have made it to the superbowl, but never won (3) The best team to have made it to an AFC or NFC championship game (4) The best team to have made it the furthest in that franchise’s history In other words, the Dallas Cowboys have won Super Bowls VI, XII, XXVII, XXVIII and XXX. The Super Bowl Champion XXVII Dallas Cowboys will be the team represented in this league. I understand that, for the most part, the selection of teams using these criteria is extremely subjective. There is probably a better way, but this is how I plan to proceed. Also, most teams will have color coordinated bases. Teams will be 100% Buzzball, Proline, Miggle 67, Football Figures.com, 2 teams of Mixed standard stock poses, 2 teams of custom figures, etc… Some teams will use all rookie bases, all Miggle bases, all Buzzball bases (all DDBs or all rookies), all Proline rookies or ttc bases so forth and so on. Each team will only consist of 22 players. Only 11 offensive starters and 11 defensive starters will be used. No special teamers. Offense will be in light and defense in dark. P.S. Among many of the reasons I am doing the solitaire thing again is because I just can’t seem to get enough of this stuff. So, don’t even begin to think that I will not plan to particiapte in at least one or two leagues or remove myself from the tourney circuit. Ace Boogie |

sounds good, but can I ask a question or two
Baxter,
Glad to know you are not going into hibernation....... I have a book of numbers from the NFL, so I can find what you may need there.... skin tones may be a little more challenging..... here are the questions - why only do 22 per team... is it because of the "team build time" or just don't want to go beyond starters?? - what determines (in your Solo league) which team/player gets the better figures?? I ask these questions because it can help me with my leauge building.... Most of the current teams I have, they all have over 35 players each...all have bases ....... But how do you not want to have backups that can make an impact during a season?? as for the rosters for the teams ..... I like to use "my personal favorite" players from any season...kinda like an all time team, but not necessarily the best players over time.

The best of the 6 Super Bowl winners fielded by the Pittsburgh Steelers was their 1978 team that won Super Bowl XIII. Their roster is below, made up of the starters from that Super Bowl game.
OFFENSE QB 12 - Terry Bradshaw (w) RB 20 - Rocky Bleier (w) RB 32 - Franco Harris (b) WR 82 - John Stallworth (b) WR 88 - Lynn Swann (b) TE 84 - Randy Grossman (w) LT 55 - Jon Kolb (w) LG 57 - Sam Davis (b) C 52 - Mike Webster (w) RG 72 - Gerry Mullins (w) RT 74 - Ray Pinney (w) DEFENSE LDE 68 - LC Greenwood (b) DT 75 - Joe Greene (b) DT 64 - Steve Furness (w) RDE 76 - John Banaszak (w) LLB 59 - Jack Ham (w) MLB 58 - Jack Lambert (w) RLB 51 - Loren Toews (w) LCB 29 - Ron Johnson (b) RCB 47 - Mel Blount (b) SS 31 - Donnie Shell (b) FS 23 - Mike Wagner (w) Ed

Thanks!
I am actually looking for a site or something I can refer to for this information. Lindyhopper49 - Not sure which teams were picked from the Giants and Patroits. It's all written down at home. Haven't really looked at it in a while. Lo - I am only doing 22 due to timing reasons. This painting stuff is for the birds. Also, it helps with the speed of the game/season.I basically took a few teams and made a determination which figures to use based on how I feel about each team and that particular error. In this league, there is no preconceived notion on wich figure is better. Hopefully, that will be determined based on the outcome of the season. Ex: The Packers will receive the 67 Miggle figures. The Bear will receive the Football Figures.com figs. Please note, all FF.com figs will recieve rookie bases only. One of these teams is set to use the soft dark green rookie bases from the 80's. Others just fell in line based on what other teams have or don't have in the conference. I tried to balance it out as much as possible so that the there is 4 BB teams in the AFC and 4 in the NFC - 4 Haiti Repro in both conferences and so forth. BTW, Denver is receiving Hait Repro because of their undersized lineman and nasty running game. Their is too much to list. No TTQB passing Can you believe it? But your second quesh. seems more geared towards competive team building which is completely different from what I am doing here. Roo- I believe the '78 Steelers team was selected. This is exactly what I need. Know of any sites with these two pieces information? Thx! Last edited by BAXTER : 12-30-2010 at 03:09 PM. |

Hello Mr. Baxter
Doug / Rookie here I talked to you at Canton. I am doing what you are talkin about doing. I like the painting so a little easier here. What I have found is numbers are easy. Go to the Home page of the MFCA, go to links and look in the first section called Football Reference & History LOOK under Pro Football Reference You then can go to Teams , Years, what ever you want. Also Rosters with numbers. ON the Skin tone two thoughts here 1. Ebay - put in the name of the player and it will turn up a football card. 2. I have looked up many teams so if you have a year I can send them to you if i have done them. Which most of mine are Super Bowl teams. Hope this helps |

AB - glad I could help on the Steelers. If you go to www.profootball-reference.com, you can get rosters (with numbers) for any team you want. Also, once you have the roster, you can just use Google's Image Search to find players you need the skin tones for. Usually, action shots and/or football cards of the player will be returned in the results, making it a pretty quick process.

There is a good one but i must have typed the wrong url cause my security thingy told me it was a bad site. It was something like NFLARCHIVES.com
something like that, but again, my security said it was bad. THere is also some like profootballreference.com or so. We recently threw together some of these sites about 2 weeks ago. Check Raiderman postings, i know he offered a good one. When i get back from sledding with the kids, i will check more thoroughly if you havent found any help yet. Be cool A-Bax, help is on the way
