Default NJLMFL Doubleheader results and pictures

NJLMFL DOUBLEHEADER GAME 1

AFC WILDCARD WEEKEND

#5 Seed Birmingham Bulls (AFC South WC) at #4 Seed Hartford Renegades (AFC East Champs)

Mohegan Sun Stadium

The # 4 seed Hartford Renegades turned 5 Birmingham turnovers into a 28-0 shutout over the Bulls in the first game of today’s day/night doubleheader. Hartford QB Ben Roethleisberger threw for a TD and ran for another in a 21 point second quarter scoring binge. The Renegade defense sacked Birmingham QB Doug Williams 4 times including one in the 3rd quarter that he fumbled and was picked up and run in 20 yards for a TD by DL Jay Ratliff. Hartford head coach Dick Vermeil was pleased with the effort of his defense. The Renegades will now go on the road to play Barry Switzer’s # 2 seeded Oklahoma Longhorns in the Divisional Round.

NJLMFL DOUBLEHEADER GAME 2

# 5 Seed Arizona Cardinals (NFC West WC) at # 4 Seed Louisville Mustangs (NFC South Champs).

Bluegrass Field

No miracle finish by the Cardinals this week. Just a good solid game on defense and 3 TD passes from Kurt Warner on offense led Arizona to a 21-18 win over the Louisville Mustangs. Louisville never got their game in sync all evening.and they were fortunate that their defense played well enough to keep them in the game.

Warner threw TD passes to Roy Green, Ottis Anderson and Terry Metcalf in route to the victory. Louisville QB Tony Romo did not play well but did manage a late TD pass to RB Felix Jones and a successful 2 pt conversion to Chester Taylor to give them a chance to win but Arizona held on to advance to next weeks Divisional Round and a rematch with division rival # 2 seed El Paso Warriors who are led by QB Sam Bradford.
