Speed or Power?
With all the talk of speed dominating college football it made me think about the trend in competitive games in our hobby. Are traditional one-stop miniature football games dominated by speed or power? How about multi-stop or MPFL?
My guess would be that speed dominates in multi-stop action whereas power tends to reign in one stop action. I'm curious to see what others think.

GOOD QUESTION......
In my experiences, it is the combination of both that wins more than one or the other. |

Combination
Power will always keep you in the game, but speed always allows for big play opportunities. Ultimately it is the combination of both that give you balance. This allows you to compete well anywhere which gives you better opportunites to win. Same as having a balanced attack running and passing the ball.

coaching
I was just commenting on the question of speed and power. Those 2 along with coaching determines the outcome of a game. But with out the combination of speed and power, one is reaching trying a # of different strategies to adjust to the speed and power as well as strategies to implemnt that will be effective on offense and defense. When one is comparable to his opponents speed and power, he can focus primarily strategies that are effective on offense and defense. Which overall will probably mean less adjustments overall.
Hopefully I said what I was trying to say correctly. Peace |

Good Question!
It's a combination of many factors. To name a few (in addition to speed and power) skill, strategy, timely adjustments and luck all play a major role.

Luck??
Adrian,
Man you are right on the luck part on your behalf, I know who I would let pick my lotto numbers if he was a gambler, hahaha, you are not only lucky but have the skills too . All kidding aside, skill and strategy make up the majority of the game. All the speed or strength in the world wont matter if they cant be coached or the right play called. Joel |

Good Question
Man I truly like this question?
In the MPFL System it's all in how you use what you got. No matter how you build your team, either for speed or power know that that's not going to get you the Win . You can use either to counter either and based on your coaching ability and understanding of how to run your O" or D" . Speed: If you have a fast team learning how to defend that speed is key. WR may get open,..........but if the QB is sacked speed means nothing. Speed is countered by formations and position discipline. Power: If you have speed then it's a question on were you have it. Power tends tobe slow and speed can stop a power run game by out side pressure. Bottom Line: The adjustments periods ( stoppages) give you the chance to use your head and think. Like it is said in football, ( Move and counter Move ). It all depends on the coach and just how smart he/she is about football, 2 How well you know your players, 3 Your understanding of every position on the field and it's responsibility. What dominates in the MPFL System is a combination of a lot of things,.......Witch team and coach is better prepared, who is the smarter coach, thinking 3 to 4 moves ahead of the other coach, knowing that TTQB skills, speed and power are not enought to win at this level of play. It is an over all ability to use All Coaching tools, and understanding of football, from clock management, to personel. In short the smarter coach wins, not who is the fastest or who has a more powerful team. Speed and power can help, but if you don't understand how to use them it can hurt ! Quote:

MPFL System
Is there any where I can see a clip of this MPFL system, before I commit to buying a CD. I have heard a lot about it and being into coaching I like to see all different methods of play.
Anywhere I can go to see a brief clip of this system in action? Shabby J |

Re
Well we are not trying to do to many things at one time. And the quality is more important to me than anything else.
There are some key things that you should know................. 1: This (MPFL) is not EF !!!!!!!!! 2: It is a Strategy Game/Football Simulation. A New Game 3: Go to www.mpflfootball.com and read up on the system. 4: The money you spend on bases, figures, etc you might use 75% of that, but with this DVD you will use 100% of the hole thing, more bang for your $$$ 5: To get a good idea of the system follow these instruction........ 1 Get a tape, or DVD of a football game and keep the remote in your hand 2 As soon as the ball is snaped paus the game and note what each player is doing. (This is an adjustment point) 3 Let the play run for 2 seconds and paus the game again. Note were the players and think to your self what would you do ? 4 The board in my system stop up to 4 times, 1 snap, 2-4 all depend on what goes on durring the plays development.
