Default Who tosses the pigskin on turkey day?

This is most likely my last turkey day game. I've been going out for years now playing tackle/rough touch football on Thanksgiving morning. The younger guys that we use to just pick up instead of grabbing them are now the ones wanting to do the tackling!!! I still go 4 hours to go til gametime, and I'm already in my uniform. I'll wait til last minute to rub the icy hot, and take a couple of pain killers!!! Yes, I'm still at WR!!! Not running too many go routes, but I can pick up the 1st downs. Nobody else in my family plays MF, so I might have to recruit somebody, or get one of the Philly coaches to play. We can start an MF/EF turkey day tradition.

Anybody else play for real, or MF on turkey day??

Default The Turkey Bowl Was a Tradition

Growing up in Memphis, the "Turkey Bowl" was a neighborhood tradition. You grow up watching it and then gettin' your opportunity to play in it. Then moving away from the old neighborhood.

So now, we've started a Thanksgiving tradition this year to play MF on Thanksgiving. I've been designated to play the TSO runnerup, Pep Woods. Already, the hype has begun as Pep and about 5 others got with me on a conference call claiming to make a statement.

So, already, before the sun is up here in Texas, the intensity has already risen to the point that I am going through "walk-throughs" because I know this will be one of those games that everyone "here" will come out to watch.

I do miss the Turkey Bowl but we're starting our own tradition here in Texas.

Default That sounds great Reg

I got those numbers. I will try to give those guys a call this evening. I won't call Pep's phone since he will be playing. He's off to a bad start. Man, he lost to Boddie!!!! Pep lost to me in the first rd of the TSO, then made the finals this past tourney. So I'm looking for Pep to bounce back strong. I know it's going to be crazy over there. You guys are nutts! The peanut gallery will be cutting up. The play by play will take his shots at both coaches. If everything works out, I will be there for the Bowl, and for the TSO!!! I'm working on my introduction now!

Default You are an Official Member of the Peanut Gallery

National,

Give Pep a call this evening while he's in the heat of action. The Sweat will be dripping off his big noggin so that he waill not even realize who it is. Harrass him a little. Heck, harrass me too. That's all in the spirit of the Peanut Gallery!

Man Reggie ,
You can sure make someone jealous , Hahaha maybe I can get some of my family to start a EF tradition also. Good luck with your game later on.
Its raining here today so possibly no getting outside to toss the old pigskin around alittle.
What better reason to play EF!! Weather delay..

Default Back from the turkey bowl

5 catches 50 yds 1 td. A lot of sore bones and muscles tho. I didn't finish the game either. I ran out of steam going for a bomb. The pass was on target, but I just fell while running to the spot. Just think of your player falling over before he hits the magnet. I called it a day after that.

You guys enjoy your dinner

Default Turkey-day football

Turkey Bowl Games are soo much fun....

As Kids it was 'given' that by 11:45 if you was not on the street ready to play, you was going to be playing the game on Sunday (regular street ball games).

We would take the game to Shermin Circle (on of many near by parks) and get it on.... we would play till 2 or 3 and head in the house and get ready for rest of the day..........

as a young man in my 20's, we would hit the fields by 10am and be done by 2 and we would be playing down on the Mall (a few blocks from the US Capital) and instead of tackle, we played flag....just as much fun only less briuses....

in my 30's, MF took the place of sweating when we got together for some action.... we would sometime play all day 3 and 4 games in between the turkey and the mac & cheese......

Now, we save it all up for Friday after because most everyone is off work.
