Ken Allen's Passionate Message
Ken Allen has been known as one of those coaches who says what's on his mind. Sometimes you have to filter through some of the things because if you react to them at first, you may interpret the message wrong.
Ken and I have had our "run ins" over the years, not really knowing each other but going on hearsay. Hearsay can sometimes be a dangerous thing because you may take someone else's word instead of getting to know that person to some extent. Maybe that's what happened with Ken and myself in past years. However, Ken reached out to me last year and we started talking. I found Ken to be one of the most passionate "gamers" around. So when he lashed out in a post, I delved deeper into the tone of his message. I don't won't to think I know his every thoughts. Who does, this is one complex individual. But SweetKA words rang true. When he spoke of don't stay home because of Miggle but come to support the efforts of the Great Lakes Leagues and all the various "gamers" in that area, he's right. Unfortunately for me, I can not be there that weekend as I am preparing for a very important Law School entrance exam. But I urge some of my brothers to go and support the Great Lakes League. These guys have been making magic up in the North for many years. One of my best friends in the game, Jim Davis, has long been one of the legends and great ambassadors in the game. Then you've got guys like Steve, Norbert, Jamel, Greg Hardmon, Simmie and many more who bring a flavor and passion to the game that is unheard of! I know its difficult to separate between Miggle and the Great Lakes efforts but you must. I say, if you can by any means necessary, go support those brothers from the cold states! They may, in turn, someday be able to help you. Ken, your words ringed home. Always in your brash way, you made great points. They were passionate, eloquent, and direct. I think you guys were also interested in having a tournament towards your way in the future. Keep us posted down here in the South and I will try to rustle up some guys to make their way up there. Thanks for the words SweetKA and I hope the community get out in droves and support the Great Lakes EFL. Also, one of my best friends in this world needs yall support as well. Jim Jackson, one of the original Road Warriors, got a store in the Livonia Mall and will be selling EFL stuff. Give "Jimmie" a lot of luv because it's guys like him who have worked behind the scene for many years that has been very instrumental in the growth of the hobby.
