Miggle 67 big men vs. the little men, the winner is...
I could be wrong, but I believe Greg used the "little" guys (and as you know he won). I also noticed several other "little" men teams doing very well throughout the tournament. For the first time ever I used the little Miggle guys (I used a complimentary team with only 12 TTCs) and when Jimbo and I tested my guys against his 67 Big Men squad I think we both realized that the Big Men were not necessarily going to be an advantage (like I had feared). In fact Jimbo pointed out the nice balance of some of the little men figures and that they might actually be an advantage over some of the Big Men figures. Where I'm going is this...if absolute weight is so critical then how come the little Miggle guys can perform so well against the Big Men. I just got home and weighed my "little" team, they were mostly 1.3-1.4g (w/o base) whereas Big Men teams are 1.9-2.0g and they hold their own for strength. Hmmm.....so maybe 0.6g weight is of less importance than many believe (and maybe fear). I can say this with the utmost confidence, the actual tweaking of the "athlete" (figure +base) is FAR more critical than half a gram of weight.
I wanted to post this thought because after experiencing such great fellowship in Detroit I hope that things like 3.2/4.0 weight, base rules (new/rounded/big/frankenstein), new TTQBs, alternate passing methods, and rule sets don't create division. Rather we should try to understand the differences and approach new equipment, new innovations, and new techniques with an open mind before formulating opinions or worse yet rejecting it (like what appears to have happened to boiling bases). There really is no right/wrong when it comes to these kinds of issues, just many ways to enjoy the hobby. For me its the old addage, when in Rome do as the Romans. Thats my approach to this hobby and I'm having a blast. Next up for me...Texas DFW! Joe

yes I used Miggle men, almost every team that I played used 67 big men. I know all the team in the game format that I faced were 67 big men.

On any given gridiron!
Hey, I've posted it before, I'll post it again! I had a showdown just to prove to myself the performance issues of Miggle figs vs. Big Men:

Testify!
If only the lil BEARS looked half as good as the big BEARS! That was my free team from Baltimore's Convention and like you said I said, THEY ARE NOT AN ADVANTAGE. They just looked good. It was my job to make them play good, and I did a pretty good job of that I hope. Hopefully the game was as fun to watch as it was to play in.
On a drearily s-l-o-o-o-o-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w board, my guys sank in and hardly rose up due to the lower vibes, kinda like a hovercraft. There weren't a lot of vibes thus allowing his lighter guys to seem that much faster than mine. I really would have liked to see that game on a faster board, maybe the same board Greg and Andrew played on. I think we would have set a scoring record on that one! Strength was never an issue. Lil Men get leverage under Big Men, but since my guys were a lil heavier they had the burst off the break. So, there is a way to compensate. That's why I was able to gash those holes out of his DL. But, once that initial burst was over and his guys' leverage advantage kicked in, Payton hit the hole a hair too late on 3-4 different "Holy Moses" plays. Kudos and props to Greg who didn't let the "apparent" advantage of size and weight falter his game. So yes, David slipped past Goliath. |

I have been saying something like this for 3 years
Guys, try the little miggle tackle figure and WR figure out at some positions, you will be amazed, the little WR guy is outstanding, both figures are sick on sliding WR bases, the tackle figure is extremly balanced.
