Explanation-The Option Stick

Ok I feel the way to expand gameplay is to implement things that make the game enjoyable. The passing game has the ability to use a measurement theory to pass, but I felt that the running game could use a punch as well, with one of my favorite plays the option pitch. This rule is also a part of the Vibra Turf System in the DFW rule a coach can call scramble and do his thing the option stick lets u set up single double or tripple rbs hit the board Run with the QB and stop the board use the slanted pitch stick, there slanted because the pitch must be behind to a trailing RB, the placement to measurement is on the the sides of the base left or right not front or rear. now i wont spill all the beans on the stick length lets just say s,m,L. the Coach can call pitch or hold for a fake. Now if if the QB is hit in the sides Tackle automatically, but if hit front on the Coach can still pitch to a trailing back but the D Coach can call Popped now the shake a One six sided dice even Turnover To D Odd the pitch is complete and the Run for its duration. also Double reverses can be run where the ball can be pitched from back to reciever, now combine that with a passing stick and you have WR pass, there are some other sweet things you can do with The Stick Because D can use em too, more to come from 4th And 1

Good one, you talked about the WR pass, I pulled that one out in a game once and the other coach was like, hey you cant do that, its not in the rules. I said, whatever do you mean, dats football baby, the play did go for a TD anyway

And you just made me think of something. I can't remember how many times I got hit running the Option AND STILL made the pitch. In College the QB should be able to get hit and still pitch, just not from the direction he got hit. THAT IS BRILLIANT, my friend! I likey likey and I'M GONNA STEAL IT!!! I'll have to throw up some pics.

My first thought though, as far as the QB being tackled or not.. was to allow a hit from the sides and still have the ability to have a successful pitch, but if the QB was hit from behind or in front.. it was a tackle..

It's similar to the NHFL automatic pass rules.. except the QB is down once hit..

Course.. I didn't take into account rules with the dice/option box...

Please explain how the “stick” is used? Is it just for measuring from the QB to the intended RB? In the NHFL we use a 2 base length stick to measure helmet to helmet, between the QB and the RB. If there is a clear path (no opponents or team mates in the way) from the QB to the RB, and, the RB is even with or behind the QB, and, the RB is within stick length, then, the pitch can be made. Naturally the offense is allowed one stoppage to assess and decide on the pitch. If the pitch is made, it’s an implied transfer of the ball to the RB, the board is turned back on and the play resolved.

Here is twist, in the NHFL all of the above is allowed provide the QB did not invoke the push rule (make base contact with the O-Line) and remained behind the LOS. Here is the twist; on a running play where the offense states “Run” at the snap, being allowed one board stoppage, allow the QB to run with the ball then allow the pitch anytime (even past the LOS and no push rule) and if the same conditions apply as above for a legal pitch, a legal lateral can be allowed then the play resolved. On such a play pivots by the defense can be made down field to make the tackle. Just an idea. Ray F.
