Default Injury to the QB for the CBSMF

Just got through talking with the Big 10 Commissioner Greg Hardmon about QB injuries. One of the important rules in the Shootout system deals with injuries. When the college league kicks off, coaches must understand that if their starting QB gets injured, that means the TTQB or TDQ as well as any other player used for him during a game.

The severity of the injury will be determined by "The Box". It could be as little as 4 plays or as much as 6, 7, 8 games or season ending injuries. This can occur on any player that you may have.

This is why it will be critical to have competent back-ups instead of just benchwarmers. I would hate to see your great QB go down in week 1 and you can not recover because you had not let the backup take any reps. Same can be said for the great runners or any other athletes.

So make sure when you make your team, plan for more than just one player getting the reps because injuries will occur and they will change the course of your season.

Default injuries...

I can attest to that statement. The few games i have played under tso style rules with my pirates the "BOX" bit me hard and i lost half my starting O line to minor injury,, out for one game .. but let me tell you it was a scramble to put together a new line on the fly due to me not planning for injuries.
Now i know to plan for the worst.
This brings up a question i have.... how many players are we allowed to carry on our rosters total ... offence and defence ?

Default More than one

Reg this why it's important to have more than one roll out QB. More than one Break away RB. More than one Dominating DL. Make your team in your likeness. I know after speaking with you on this subject I needed two complete O-Lines and back-ups in each position. Also each board runs differently and that starting QB may take a seat to the back-up. Even though this is my first year in the DFW I study well.

Default Back in the 70's and 80's...

teams like Oklahoma, Nebraska, Tennessee, SC, and so on would dress out as many of 100 on a team. That was a lot! But you knew only 11 could play at a time.

I don't think we've put any limits on the team but I am thinking it will probably be stated in the rules to be 60 or less. I think this would be a fair limit for everyone.

Rick, you had to scramble but you also had to do some superior coaching to get that team to play the way you wanted to. When you lose linemen, it becomes critical when more than one goes down. Then you relly begin to see that you can not run behind that RG and RT anymore. Or if that great back goes down, the question is "Will you try to run the ball anyhow on 3rd and 4?"

Darrian, you are a great student and I think will be a big-time winner in the DFW and the CBSMF! You are analyzing what makes this style what it is. You know that 2nd and 3rd stringers are just as important as the starters.

We definitely have some mind-sessions to go through because I can most definitely learn from your knowledge as well.

Yes, the injury is a "Beast" when you least expected!
