2008 SWB Champion Thank Yous...
Whew!!!
I believe it’s over now. Brotha’ man had to wind down a little before posting. I am going to make this short. 1/3rd of the Chalmers Clan Congratulations Robert Chalmers for making it to the big dance! We were all pulling for you and you did not disappoint. Yes, I received the title, but your journey was impressive and your play in the championship game was ******** good. If I weren’t the opposition, I would’ve been pulling for you just a little more. LISA SMITH My main THANK YOU goes out to Lisa Smith (Don Smith’s wife) as well as Paula and Mabel. My only regret is that I did not hug LISA when I first saw her this year and I did not say goodbye to her before I departed. LISA, because of you and your crew, Michelle always has a great time when she’s in Portsmouth. I will not go into details, but please know that you have made a major impact in my experience over the last three year’s at the SWB. As for the coaches in the tourney… man you guys have stepped-up your game. I really do not think there is much that separates what some might consider “top-tier” coaches anymore. These days, the difference is a play here or a call there… that’s it. So, no matter who wins the championship these days, there is not much separation in skill level because everyone appears to be stepping-up there game. No doubt! Yo Mr. Damon Lucas, You may not believe this, but the only reason why our game turned out the way it did was because of the board. Yes fellas, sometimes the board makes a tremendous difference in the outcome of a game. But fellas (not you Damon), please never use this reason as an excuse. It is what it is. You have a very good team there and surprised me with your skill level. This was the first time you and I ever got a chance to get on the board and it was definitely a pleasure to compete against you. Keep up the good work, my man. Tourney Officials: Of course, I would like to thank all organizers and people who assisted with this year’s event from Don Smith, Jimbo, Mike Pratt to Mike Carr and Anthony Burgess and all the others. Great job! To all the others:I will refrain from saying any other names because I know I will unintentionally but inevitably leave out some names, but I thank you for our conversations, tips, advice, staying up until the wee ours of the morning and for just enjoying your time and having fun. Whether we spent time together or not, these type of things somehow impact others whether or not you are aware of it. Oh yeah, just one other piece of information I want to share with you guys. Of the three years the SWB has been in existence, I have made it to two of the three championship games. I competed in the first SWB championship as well as SWB championship #3, but my favorite of the three SWBs is SWB #2. Hope everyone had at least a good time and more importantly a safe trip back home. Now, it’s time to prepare to defend the DIXIE League title in July. So until next time…. Peace, Love and Hair Grease! -Adrian- Last edited by BAXTER : 06-25-2008 at 10:05 AM. |
