Smile Final day of the MFCA Convention...Results-Photos and more!

It is 10pm and I have just pulled into my driveway...what a great weekend! Before I begin to post, I want to send out some special thanks to some people who were a huge help all weekend...

John Martin-He picked guys up, he was our tour guide, he provided free beer all weekend, he got everyone to the Sunday cookout, he had guys over to his house and he welcomed everyone to Canton. He was a big part of the success of the weekend...thank you John

Will Travers-Will did alot of the little necessary things to make the weekend run smooth...plus I got to know Will better, which for me just added to the weekend and made it all that much more special...Thanks Will

Ray Fanera-This guy did an outstanding job on the Hall of Fame program...so well that I hope he continues to do it year after year. It took a great deal of preparation to make this happen...it was a lot of work and he deserves a great deal of thanks...thank you Ray.

Ed Roche-Ed was a big help with his wallet as he lifted my spirits by buying 7-8 Convention Coffee Mugs that allowed us to post a "sold out" sign. Thanks for supporting the MFCA Ed!

And Finally Lynn Schmidt-Let's face it...if it wasn't for Lynn's drive over the last few months this convention might not have ever occurred...instead it turned out to be one of the best conventions (if not thee best) that I have ever been a part of...do me a favor...give this man a nod and give him some appreciation for all that he did....thanks Wolf...HOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWLLLLL!

Now to some awards! My notes are still packed, but I will try to remember who won what....

The 2008 MFCA Convention Tourney champion was....Adrian Baxter with 393 points for the weekend (see photos). 2nd place went to Jimbo Dunagan with 312 and third place went to Joe Greco with 308 points (see photos).Your region winner for the tournament was the Great Lakes Region and the top three were Jimbo Dunagan, Damon Lucas and Steve Martin (see photos)

As for the skills competition I know Will Shropshire won two categories...I think weighted fastest man and strength but I am not sure. Harvey Bennett was a winner as well. Joe Greco won the kicking skills competition, Adrian Baxter won one or two?...unfortunately I am not sure about the rest of skills...Lynn will update everyone.

As for photos we had some good ones. In the mix is Adrian Baxter and the Heisman pose after winning the tournament. Mike Turner took a turn with the chamionship helmet. We had a great Michigan versus Michigan State game to finish off the convention that was a marathon. It was Steve Martin and Joe Allore going at it and I am sure they will post highlights at some point. We also had a visit from the President of PFUFA "Pantherman".

I hope everyone enjoys the photos...there will be more to come...it was truely a weekend of Unity, Fellowship and Intregity and I must say everyone in the MFCA is a great group of guys. I hope everyone gets some rest at some point...we pulled "all nighters" on both nights. We didn't finish until 4am on Friday night and it was 4:30am on Saturday...No one wanted it to end

Enjoy the photos and good night!

this was the first event that i have travelled to attend, and it was fantastic! a great, laid back atmosphere, games running constantly and fellowshipping at its finest.
i thank all who were involved in putting this event together and seeing it through, and i want to congratulate all of the event, skills competiton and customizing winners.
this was great for me because i had the opportunity to play different rules sets. i didn't win any games with my 1926 navy midshipmen national championship team ( ), but i do not care about that, that's not why i was there. i went to have fun, meet some of the people that love this hobby, and maybe, if i payed attention, learn a few things.
some thoughts:
1)never go to play mf and leave your qb and kicker at home .
2)jimbo's arena football field is crazy fast, and smooth as silk. the rule set is great, and it is a fun, very fast paced game.
3)michigan joe allore is a fantastic customizer, a great player, and a great person as well.
4)there are a lot of talented, creative people in this hobby. i was in awe at the level of detail and craftsmanship displayed by everyone! i am proud to be a part of this great hobby experience.
5)i am definitely going to have to put together an ohio state team for these types of events. i just cannot let michigan and mich st be represented w/o the buckeyes in attendance .

thanks to everyone who purchased figures, hopefully i will have a new batch, coming soon...
jimbo, i hope that the armed forces event will keep happening. i love the rule-set, if we decide to do a college season here in the spring, i may have to implement your rules for it. they are perfect for a college style of play.
it was greaat to meet everyone, i will DEFINITELY be attending this event again!
here are a few pics.

Default Great Weekend, and Thanks

What a great Redskin//EF weekend, we got back from the HOF game a little while ago. It was the best game day experience I’ve had in a while. No FedEx field BS, no stress, no walking a mile to get to your seat just football. My thanks to the MFCA staff, they pulled of a fantastic event in conjunction with the PFUFA. We had the best seats for the enshrinement, the game, we had dinner with them and we got to demonstrate EF to a very enthusiastic football crowd of kids. Lynn and Matt did our young organization proud, next year will be even greater. My thanks again, to the MFCA staff and to all the coaches who came out to play and support the event. We had one unfortunate incident, Zack Greco was injured playing football outside and broke his arm, get better Zach, we’re behind you all the way.

My congratulations to all of the MFCA HOF enshrinees, I know we selected the best of the best in 2008.

Default Mike! Y wear a Bubby Brister Jersey?

Looks like you guys had a great time. Wish I could have been there.
Mike Turner! Why would you disgrace the Broncos, as well as yourself, by wearing a Bubby Brtister Jersey. If it is indeed a Brister Jersey, you should burn it. (lol)

This was such a great convention, the first MFCA convention! It was an awsome weekend of making new friends and renuing older ones and an overall great time had by all. For those who wanted to come but couldn't make it because of all of life's activities (and realities)- we missed you! To all those that were there- thanks for the great spirit of fellowship and good times.

All- this MFCA convention had such a great spirit to it, if you are new or old to the hobby and you are fortunate enough to travel to an event this is a great weekend to lock down on your calendar.

A heart felt thanks to Lynn Schmidt for orchestrating such a fine event and to Matt and the rest of the crew from the MFCA board who helped put on the great show.

Default Second To None

I wrote a reply earlier at work and hit submit and it disappeared, so here goes again...

This weekend had EVERYTHING you could ask for as an member of a thriving association of MFers!!! From the meeting on Friday to "finding their inner plastic" to Weirdwolf's kick returner impersonating Nat Moore's helicopter catch to Phil's Air Force Gotham Gorilla Men to Chris Fields' handpainted - numbers too! - 1926 Navy Middies to DeWayne getting the mini-Arena bug to seeing Adrian do the Heisman pose with the Championship helmet on to jumping out of my skin when ed Roche was whooping and hollering for Joe Greco's Kicking Challenge to 300 kids kicking 63yd FGs like Adam V. at the United Way charity event to guys getting passing lessons from a 7yr old Michigan Matthew to Lil Harvey calling me "Jumbo" to seeing the frenzy around Mark K's "crack-truck" to getting board time with Franny J Boy to getting 3 1/2 hours' sleep 2 nites straight to introducing Michigan Joe to a Venti Caramel Machiatto on the drive home. What more could you ask for?

I had a great time and to all that were there... I LOVE YOUS GUYS AND THIS GREAT GAME WE ALL PLAY.

Thanks for letting me be a part of your weekend.

PS, my prayers are with you Zach! Heal fast.
