The toughest division in the DFW...
There are many arguements of "which is the toughest division in football"? Is it the NFC East or the AFC South?
As much as our league tries to rival the NFL we never thought of it to this degree. In the DFW those very same divisions are a hot topic on which division in the toughest in the league. You can make an arguement for both... The NFC EAST is 18-9, The AFC South is 18-9; The NFC East has 8 superbowl appearances and 3 championships, The AFC South has 9 superbowl appearances and 6 championships In the 14 year history of the league there have only been 4 coaches to win a championship, 3 of them are in these 2 Divisions In the NFC EAST the 7-1 Eagles coached by Super Bowl runner up Barry Stephenson, the 6-1 Cowboys coached by the resurgent 3 time DFW superbowl champ Reggie Rutledge, 3-4 Redskins coached by Kevin Boddie (his record is not indicitive of how good a coach he really is.) the Giants 2-3coached by rookie sensation Antonio Jones In the AFC South the 4-1 Colts coached by 5 time DFW Champ Mike Robertson, 8-1 Texans coached by the infamous Jim Davis, 6-3 Cininnatti Bengals coached by the upstart coach Douglas Shanafelt, and the 0-4 Oilers coached by the legendary Oscar Woodard So you tell me, which division is the toughest in your opinion?

Protege', don't put that pressure...
on the NFC East!
You know, the funny thing about the NFC East is all of these guys are very good friends of mine. I hate playing any of them because of that. However, with last year's champion coming from the NFC South (yourself), Jim Davis (a welcomed addition and outstanding coach), Oscar Woodard (former champion who will make a run), and "Rookie" (playing lights out), I think the AFC South is the best division. The most impressive coaches to me thus far have been: Norbert Revels, Jim Davis, Barry Stephenson, and Ira Meachem. I think Ira should have strong consideration for Coach of the Year. This guy has played lights out! This has been a great year for the league. I think the most disappointing to this point may be: Oscar Wooard, Pep Woods, and Ernest Claiborne. These are all great coaches but have not gotten off the mat yet. I know it is still early in the season and they could make a run but you've got to think, the radio stations in those towns are having a field day! I know the Steelers coach is in a state of depression because of his poor play but he's one of those coaches who can turn it around in a moment's notice. The same can be said for Pepper Woods. He's a great coach with a great attitude who still plays hard every play. It's just a matter of him getting on a hot streak. But yes, the AFC South has 2 DFW Champions and another coach who is making a real push to win it all. Plus add in "Rookie" who has far surpassed expectations and I don't think it's really that close. You like to fly under the radar...
don't you? the Eagles have won over 2 top 10 teams this season one of which is an AFC South team (Colts). 2 other big non top 10 wins came against pre-season favorites to make a run at the championship (Lions and Bucs). The Cowboys have a huge win against the Eagles who are #3 in the power rankings and are sitting atop the NFC with a 6-1 record.
In the AFC South the strength of schedule hurts them and with only 1 big win coming versus the top 10, putting them in the class of the NFC East at this stage is injustice. What I do agree with though is that Head Coach Ira Meachem of the Arizona Cardinals has shut the critics up once again. When he wins he wins pretty easily. He is on pace to finish the season with an 8-3-1 record! WOW!!! What a huge turnaround. He has to go to Dallas in week 7, that will tell a lot about just how far his team has come! I would not consider the Bucs a dissappointment, not yet. He arguably has the toughest schedule in the league. His 3 losses have come against what most would consider 3 of the top 5 coaches in the league. So I would reserve judgement on them for now. The Titans have been on a decline for sometime now. This tragic ending to a historic franchise was apparent. The committment in Tennessee is no longer there and the Legacy of the great Oscar Woodard is at stake if he cant turn his season around. He is quickly becoming the homecoming game for all of his opponents.

The AFC West...
Hey R.J. now you truly have an arguement. There is some ballers in your division. I mean ballers! The AFC West is definetly the most physical division for sure. Norbert - Chiefs, RJ - Chargers, and RD - Raiders...hmmmm...Hey Reg we may have a new division to crown champion. Although, historically there are no titles in that division and very little experience under the rule set it is definetely the division with the highest potential. I see 3 of the 4 coaches in the playoffs and making a strong push for the championship. I don't see that kind of strength in any other division. WOW!!! How did I overlook you guys? Just think if you add Mike Turner to that mix!!! WOW!!! Someone won't be making the playoffs! Glad I'm moving to the NFC! I gotta get there quick! Hahahaha
