Default What defines EF

Visually, what is the one thing that if a new person, who maybe had the game as a kid, saw it would say to them "electric football" For example: a TTQB, a base, a certain figure....
Your thoughts please...

Default Figure and Base

Either the Fab 5 RB on Rookie Base, classic profile,
OR
the TTQ.

I think the TTQ would elicit recognition more so than the figure.

Yeah, I'll go with the TTQ as my final answer.

Unfortunetly it is the TTQB. Even though I believe the TTQB was one of the main reasons I never got back into the hobby. Only untill the passing sticks came along did I want to get back in the hobby. I still think the TTQB is one of the main reasons our hobby gets a bad rap. Second would be the fab5 running back. It says electric football without a bad rap. Just my opinion!

Default what do we really WANT to define EF?

Who are you trying to attract? If you are trying to attract the older generation who played as kids then a TTQB or fab 5 might be OK. If your trying to attract a new college age kid or someone new to the game then thats probably not good enough. I say you go "new" school with a decked out customized figure for your hallmark visual reference (put him on a base though).

Wolf,

It has to be the "patented" timer... no? But all kidding aside I think the running back figure on a base says it all. You look at the other major football tabletop game, Subbutteo. The soocer/footbal player is the icon for their game. I would stay away form the TTQB, as it does have some negative vibes around it. Just my 2cents.

Default Wally J is Right

I think Wally J hit it right on the head .

The TTQB has alot of negativity that goes along with it . It leads one to believe that in order to be good you must be good with this prop .

But the RB figure on a base seems to reflect what EF really is . But I would stay away from the small boards .

Default Wolf I know you said visual

But at our league games this weekend there was a bowling tournament going on with about 100 bowlers, when they took there break in between matches, over half of them came rushing to where we were playing our games, **1st thing out of there mouth was**, I REMEMBER THAT SOUND, Wolf, these cats were going crazy,.......for the visual,......I gotta go with the little chicken leg RB figure.

Default Figures are pretty cool, but.......

The first time I actually saw a gameboard was the first time I was hooked. Model #500,from about 1970 and made by Tudor, with the bigger 1-piece yellow and white figures (base, platform, and figure all molded into 1 piece).
The selling point for me was the little field itself, all painted up with yard lines, hashmarks, and numbers. I was blown away that somebody could produce that much on that small of scale. (Now look at all the custom figures and field covers! My how far we've come)

Default MY THOUGHT IS WORTH ONLY A "PENNY"

(EF) THE GAME, FOOTBALL....................

I'VE READ MANY POST FROM MANY DIFFERENT LEAGUES, READ THE MANY OPINION OF WHY AND WHY NOT?????

SOME LIKE AND SOME DON'T LIKE THE SMALL BOARDS, THE (TTCQB) AND MANY OTHER THINGS. I JUST SAY I'T ALL GOOD!!!! THE GAME MAY BE PLAYED IN MANY DIFFERENT STYLES, BUT IT'S STILL FOOTBALL!!!!

IT'S LIKE PLAYING TAG FOOTBALL, NOW PEOPLE PLAY WITH THE PULL A-WAY STRAPS. TWO HAND TOUCH IS STILL GOOD!!!!

THE LEAGUE I PLAY IN, FROM THE BEGINNING THE (TTCQB) HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST FEARED PLAYERS ON THE FIELD!!!! RUNNING, PASSING, HECK!!!!!!! THEY EVEN MADE IT A RULE THAT YOU COULD ONLY HAVE ONE IN THE GAME BECAUSE THEY WAS SO TOUGH ON DEFENSE!!!!!

THE (TTCQB) IS MY FIGURE FOR LIFE!!!!!!!! THE METAL IS FINE, THE NEW ONE JUST MADE BY (G-FORCE) IS GREAT!!!!!!! REMEMBER THIS HE SAVES TIME AND WITH PRACTICE YOU CAN BECOME GOOD, BUT OF COURSE THAT'S WITH ALL THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!
