Default Playing Norbert was fun

One of the best things about having brought in Road Warriors was getting the opportunity to hang around guys such as JEasymoney (Jim Davis), Norbert Revels, Kevin "The Souljah" Boddie, Dru Sparks, and Michael Robertson, among others. But also seeing these guys in their element with raw emotion and the excitement that Road Warriors generate.

But one of the most enjoyable times was playing Norbert and his KC Chiefs in a game which resonated throughout the league. If Norbert recalls, it was a great autumn evening with the game passing from afternoon lighting to evening darkness. On that day, Norbert got the best of me. His team came clearly ready to play, in a stadium!

I remembered a statement that he made about me being in a hoody totally covered up from head-to-toe. What he did not know was my fear and allergic behavior to mosquitoes. Most people don't know that but that is one of those phobias I have never been able to shake. I love playing games outside but I must be "hosed down" in insect repellant. And then sometimes, that is not enough.

Nevertheless, what I saw on Norbert's face was something out of toy stores! This grown man of 40 plus years (I think) saw everything he had imagined about the game come to life and he was the starring actor! The lights, the stadium, the people in the stands, the hype around the game, the pregame, and the speed of the game made for an amazing imagery. The game was on centerstage under the lights and weather was perfect for football.

I constantly remember him saying words like "Unbelievable, Wow, Amazing" and many more describing his experience in the game and what I did in the DFW League. It was truly captivating to him to the point that he offered to go online and speak of the virtues of what we do. "No need for that", as I told him I just wanted him to experience what I do in the game. This is what brings me to the game. Nothing else! Yeah, I want to win just like everybody else but to know you can make it look real on a miniature scale means more to me than anything else. I will win some and I will lose some. If you think you should not lose or will not lose, you should never go onto the field, because it is a part of the game. But on that day, in time, I think I won something bigger than a game. I won a guys heart and passion about the game. He was that "little kid in the candystore" we all talk about.

Thanks Norby for comin' and reminding me of why I play the game.

Reg

Default What I saw was nothing but pure MF love

You could easly tell Reg loves MF more then most of us in the community, the house,...OMG....LOL,...........covered in MF items from stadiums hanging on the wall to a room set-up fully with sound equipment for MF games complete with turntables and a darn mixer, (smile), what struck me really was that his wife Rose allows this like it's apart of everyday life, which it is believe me (EACH ROOM IN THE HOUSE HAS MF IN IT), even the kitchen was dominated with MF, everything was in order also, stuff wasn't just lying around taking up room, Reg has everything set-up just right, my man had a stadium right in the middle of the living room, I was like WOW, you gotta be kiddin me, this cat loves MF with a passion only a few of us have here, I love you man because I can truly see you for who you are, you want everyone to play and enjoy this game to the fullest, **no matter what style or equipment is being used**, I saw and heard this 1st hand.

Our game, I was nervous as hell, I think I called my TO's in the 1st 10 minutes, not sure, that game has got to be the most fun I had playing a MF game, it even surpasses my 1st game back into MF and the tournaments I won, some remember, I got sick and threw up at my 1st one because I was so excited, this game matched that experience for real, FUN, OVERJOYED, AND EXTREMLY EXCITED, that feeling, I had been searching for again and I found it with you and the DFW my friend, thank you.

RJ, do you remember the 1st time I came to your LA messageboard talkin crap ?

Default Thanks Norbert

The Super Bowl should be a tremendous time had by all. It will be great having you guys back down in Texas for the championship. This should be one for the ages and I hope the weather cooperate to the point that we can have some of these games outside.

Maybe, in the winter, the mosquitoes will not be swarming. This is a very significant year for me in the DFW and I want to treat it as such. That's why I have appreciated guys like yourself, JEasy, and all the other Road Warriors who have sacrificed their time, money, and energy to come here and be a part of what I do and what the DFW does.

Whether or not I am in the Super Bowl, I have a responsibility to make certain that you all get that magical feeling with all the hype that has been on displayed here for 14 years in this league.

Let's close out the season with a bang!
