Prices?

I have been afraid for a while that I offended people with pricing. Last year I offered to take on commisions, but almost no one took me up on it after I sent them prices.

I have been fortunate to do a few for some really great people, and I thank those guys.

I am not going to be a vendor, and am only painting for myself and friends, so I feel I can ask this question in fairness: what do you feel is a fair price for figures, both custom and standard, with sculpting, and painting, also, how much extra for details such as chin straps, facemasks, etc. I want to know what people who buy/collect think is fair, as well as what the customizers and painters want to get for thier efforts. Be rediculous even, as I think the balance of all the perspectives is important.

I have looked at what people charge for different services, both on here and watching ebay. I think I have a decent idea who the consitent guys are to go to for custom work. I personally try to be frugal, and always look for a deal, but I also respect that quality takes time, both in the particular project and also the time to become skilled to a level of ability. And, trust and consistency count for alot too.

So please respond.

Most people on here are cheap !!!! I am one of them
Jennings figures are $10 apiece
Watts are $12 - $15
Reggies , I am not sure
Others are $10 +

These prices are for unpainted figures !
Since these figures are so detailed , I feel they are worth it.
I would think a fair price for one of these figures painted up should be close to $30 - $35 a figure. I am sure if a complete team was sold it would be less.
Now with that said , good luck getting that price .
If you paint up Cowboys or Steelers , there is a better chance of getting a fair price.
I just sold a team for less than it cost me for the figures and I regret it, because I know it is going to take alot of time to make the new figures and then paint them .

Everyone is cheap in there own way.I have not done alot of customs figuires for people but can.I mostly paint and modify players.I just don't advertise hard for work but my work is awesome.I have done modified players so I usually don't charge for that.You can change what u charge for your work.Micheal I have seen your work is second to none.You can't put a price on your time your doing work for people..When I paint teams for people I charge 6 bucks a man loaded with all bells n whistles.with them supplying the figs and accesorries.If they no figuires I charge what I pay for them.I have not done a big custom team for no one so right now don't know what I would charge.

If someone wants work from you then hey will pay what u charge them

I am not just asking for myself, but to get an overall discusion of what people think figures are worth, on all of the levels.

I personally don't really want any more commissions, this hobby is my escape from professional demands. I do this to remind myself of the fun I had as a kid. I was just so flattered by the response to my work, that I was willing to do some for others. Now I am just enjoying getting to it when I feel like it.

As for pricing, I would love to think fully detailed figures were worth around $30, but that makes a 22 man team cost over $600 . I can't even imagine paying that myself. I still like to look for $5 teams on ebay. I rarely find any, as the ones I want go for more, but I still hope to find that bargain.

In reality , something is worth as much as someone is willing to pay.

That says it all. The real value of anything is what someone else is willing to pay for it at that particular day and time.

To give you an example. I painted two teams of 30 figures and put the same equal amount of time and detail into each team. Placed on ebay. Sold one team for $60.00 and one for $130.00. The only difference, one team was more in demand than the other on that particular day and time and someone was willing to pay more for it on that particular day and time.

My best advice make someone a price and they will either accept it or not. Be fair to your self as well. Don't under sell your talent.

Here is how pricing brakes down for me.
$40.00 for two bags of RR figures
$10.00 Miggle facemask
$20.00 Chinstrap

Paint, I already have a big supply so I don't worry about that.

Having me paint a set of 25 figures for you.....priceless

$170.00 per 25 or $6.80 per player.

So as you can see, there really isn't much money in doing the work. And with all the hours that I spend on it I would say I am making around $5.00 an hour maybe less.

since I have not jumped to the decal making,prices are depending on if you supply the decals or figures.

i charge $5 per figure (basic)
$7 if you want full detail (facemasks/chins; names; shoes, etc)

When I do a completed team of 35-50 players I charge a team rate based on what team you want and how much details you want.

I have a set of Cowboys in the trading post that I am selling cheap, but no takers

I think a lot of guys in this hobby has been burned, taken advantage of per say. They are afraid to send people there hard earned money and not get there product. I can only speak for me; I’m not good at putting stuff in the mail right away because of my work hours. But you have guys on here that will be quick to take your goods or money. Than feel that they can send it to you whenever they feel like it. So I don’t think that people are being cheap. I just think they are afraid of losing there goods or money.
