Your right on base with what you wrote. It can happen, we have regional reps and are working on rewriting what their responsibilities are to make it a viable position again. This could potentially be part of their jobs to get and keep track of tourney info from their regions and then report to the Rankings Committee. Or we could just get volunteers at each event to record the info.
In a sense, you are talking about "sanctioning" tourneys which wouldn't have to be more than making sure they keep accurate records (provide a form), have given adequate notification of the event and that there was a set minimum of participants with some sort of simple documentation (provide a form). We can do more (much more) with more people taking active roles! Champion against the MFCAL winner would be cool also. A nice prize could be given...two silly bands!!

I think it's very doable. And I'm happy to help out, lead the charge, fall off the cliff, whatever. (Heck, I've done all this before.)
For Subbuteo, we roughly do it this way: * Tournaments must provide acceptable notice to ASA leadership (a month). ***** I'd say this is an acceptable standard for MFCA, too. * Tournaments must have a minimum number of players (I think 4). That's OK because A) we have fewer players total to pick from, and B) the game is just different. Four guys can play 20 games in a day. ***** MFCA, however, can't do that due to the nature of our game. I'd suggest the minimum should be 8 players. * Results are submitted IN FULL to the ASA Ranker Person (official title, sort of), and he produced both rankings for the year (Sept.-Aug.) and 2-year rolling rankings. ***** That might be going a bit overboard for us. Let's get the single-year stuff done first. The forms should be simple - it really just needs to contain each score (coaches names, not teams) in each round. I, or whoever is in charge, can figure it out from there. * Players have their top five tournament finishes counted in the rankings. ***** I'm not married to this concept. I kind of think if you show up for a sanctioned tourney, it should count. If players were given the option of dropping their lowest finish per year, I'd be OK with that too. Everyone has a bad day. * Tourneys are placed on the Calendar on the ASA web site (which is buggy right now, DON'T go there). ***** I'm sure we can do this easily. Ed

That would be nice . . .
With a web site link as well?
Loving the brainstorming here no doubt.

Roo-lead the charge! Just let me know what you need from the MFCA/website end and we can get this going. Write up a small proposal with some details and I'll get it to the BOD, but its a no-brainer to run with.
You won't fall off the cliff...you may choose to dive off before its all over...LOL
