Default MFCA AND MIGGLE CONVENTION QUESTION

COACHES,

I HAVE A QUESTION.FOR THE PEOPLE.

Before i ask, DO NOT TURN THIS POST INTO A US AGAINST THEM SITUATION.

This question is being asked for research purposes. We all love both entities and i am trying to see what made you decide on the one you chose.

I am noticing plenty of excitement with the announcement that The miggle is returning for another great event. I have not decided if im going yet. Its 50/50. I saw the pictures from last years miggle and noticed many faces i did not see at the Mfca convention either year. 2009 and 2010. Im reading how coaches cant wait it attend the mig in januuary. I did not see this same excitement from some when the mica convention was building up to the date.

Don't get me wrong, many of those who were at the mfca CONVENTION did not go to the miggle. MY SELF INCLUDED. MY REASON, " i did not want to go to the same state twice for another tourney. OHIO HAS BEEN BLESSED WITH 2 MAJOR CONVENTIONS DROPPING IN ON THEIR STATE 2 YEARS IN A ROW,
Columbus and canton. OHIO HAS BEEN LUCKY !!!!

Now, there are some who will attend both like the GREAT DETROIT CREW AND THE GREAT ADRIAN BAXTER.

With all of that said, being that the CONVENTIONS just happened to land on the same state, why do coaches go to one and not the other ? The premise is, THEY ARE BOTH IN THE SAME STATE SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE WHEN YOU HAVE TO FLY OR DRIVE TO THE SAME STATE ANYWAY ?

1)Is It the timing, would you rather go to a convention in the winter instead of the summer ?

2)what is the draw for miggle and what is the draw for the mfca convention ?

I HOPE MANY OF YOU ARE TAKING THIS LIGHTLY WITH A
SMILE.

The more electric football the better right

Im curious as to why go to one and not the other. i would not ask this question if both conventions where hosted in different regions. But for 2 years in a row they land on the same state soil. I UNDERSTAND IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD 2 CONVENTION TRIPS FROM AUGUST TO JANUARY.

Does one have an advantage over the other ? THIS IS NOT AN US AGAINST THEM SCENARIO, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT.

I just find it awfully weird that some flock to one or the other when they are being held basically in the same area.

Like i said earlier, I DID NOT WANT TO FLY TO OHIO TWICE IN THAT TIME PERIOD. in january 2011, i had no idea miggle was coming back to columbus. Another reason for not attending miggle is i joined the mid ohio league. I am kind of annoyed, The mid ohio has a play weekend on dec 10th in columbus. soon as i book my flight and make plans for the weekend, MIGGLE ANNOUNCES, "THE CONVENTION IS ON" Which is pretty much a month later. i would have gone if the information was out much earlier. i would have played some mid ohio games then. I do not want to go to columbus in december and january. Timing is everything.

I think coaches would rather have a winter tourney, UNLESS IT IS THE EMBASSY SUITES BREAKFAST THAT IS PART OF THE DRAW. i will admit, the E-SUITES is one great hotel. Miggle did a great job connecting with them.

Default You have low overhead Dre

You use the different tourneys as a way to visit new cities..much like I do. I have been all over the country following EF,BB,MF. But at some point kids, significant other, bills and life in general does not allow us to do it, either not as much or not at all. I don't think you have a wife or kids? So you always have to be willing to step in the other guys shoes.
Miggle has to cut back on over head, they no longer use Silverman marketing, last year I think we unloaded the trucks for them, so I don't think they hire moving companies anymore?
The fact that Miggle is having it, is exciting to most because that's where it started for most guys. I would say most of the EF community met or found out about the game being alive thru Miggle. (Including myself) For me if they announced they were having it on the moon I would try to go. It's the biggest gathering of any and all the tourneys...plus it's FREE!!!!!!!! No fees, no membership no nothing. You go to Miggle to pay homage, to show respect to the Landsmans for doing what they have done. If they had it in their warehouse guys would go.
I hope Miggle announces during the dinner that they will be in Ohio next year and end all the waiting!
The MFCA Convo is trying to be the Miggle of the summer time. For it, the draw is totally different. You have so much NFL activities going on that you could forget there is MF going on. But the biggest draw is that the MFCA is done by all of us....the members. It is for us, by us! We donate our things, we donate our time (we need more support to make it even better)

If money was no problem, heck yeah we would move these things all across the country and maybe even overseas, and everyone would come to everything. But this isn't Harry Potter, or Disney World, so until somebody hits the big one, and throws every cent of it into this sport/hobby we are going to have to pick and choose where & what we go to, and the people throwing the events are going to have to go where they feel is best for them and their tourney. Period!

The F.O.T.H will be at both events as long as I am in good health.

Default nash

nash,

This really has nothing to do with where the events chooses to host there show. In this case it just happens to have been in the same state. Im just curios as to
why some may go to the miggle twice and the mfca zero. OR, THE mfca convention twice and the miggle zero. Why not plan it out so you could do a 1 and 1 in 2 years. because they both happened to land in the state oF "O" I don't think it has anything to do with kids, marriage or anything. Because, some went to one or the other. so they spent money getting to one of them. just trying to see why one over the other.

That's a good answer though, coaches get excited because they started with miggle. But, coaches have been ending with the MFCA also

a scenario, If you had the chance to date beyonce and halle berry for four nights in a row before they left town. wouldn't you like to have dated

beyonce 2 nights then halle 2 nights

why beyonce 4 nights and halle not once. when both are gorgeous and want you ?

mantaraydre

Thanx

Default scenario

Beyonce and Halle Berry both in the same time, during 4 complete days.

Is it possible ? Technically, it's possible, remember I'm french

More seriously, not speaking of personal tastes (example you're sure you'll find more people you know in that event than in the other one, you prefer the hotel and facilities, you can use the travel to visit some relatives near the event, etc, etc...) National pointed the money and schedule (work, family, etc...) I believe it's the toughest points.

Example, myself,if I could, I'll go in USA meet you all guys as many times I can. But in 2011, my job contract will be finished. Then, 1)the contract is renewed = I will have (a few) money, but no time (can't take holidays when you work on a limited duration job here). 2)enumployement again, I'll have plenty of time but no money. Example 3), they sign me a unlimited job contract in january 2011, and I will not be able (due to unlimited duration contract laws here) to take holiday days before 2012.

And even I'm not married and have no childs, it's tuff to plan future things when you face that reality. i believe it's the same for everyone.

The fact that both are in OHIO has no bearing at all whether I go to one or the other. My desire is to attend both. The factors that determine what events I attend are:

#1 Family committments
#2 Work committments
#3 Timing of the events
#4 Finances

Unfortunately work did not allow me to attand the MFCA this year. Whether or not I attend Miggle this year will depend on first when my daughter decides to have my grandaughters birthday party (her birthday is January 23) and second work committments.

This is after all a game and a hobby and is the last thing on my list of priorities.

Default also,

coaches,

It can be as simple as miggle may just be your favorite tourney and that is where you wish to spend your time and money on a yearly event.

Same with the

1)mfca convention

2)beltsville bash

3)open run

4) duel in the desert

5)bama blast.

You may have a relative you can visit once a year while in that town for that tourney. family viz and tourney. kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

OHIO, YOU HAVE BEEN LUCKY AS ACTUALLY GETTING BEYONCE AND HALLE AT THE SAME TIME.

Default my take on it

Dre

CorEy made some excellent and valid points. As someone who travels around to many events, it's a matter of planning also that must be considered for making each event.

Okay, Miggle normally host in Jan 3rd weekend and that is the long standing event that most try to attend. Besides reconnecting with one another, you can restock your MF supplies for the next year (for most) and get stuff for free (enticing to others).

Now planning for this has been a little tough because they would withhold the location until maybe late Oct. For some, this would present a problem because they might not have saved enough to go to the location selected... or may not want to fly to those locations....

Because you already know the time frame of the event, from the planning point of view, you can already schedule that weekend off from you work, and begin mapping out your travel plans for the location that was picked.

Now for the MFCA CON

I attended the first one wit a duel activity planned because I had never been to the Pro Football HOF and since we were doing it in conjuction with those events, it was a must for me as a Pro Football Fan. Then, the anouncement came that BOTH D.Green and A.Monk was being inducted that same year...simply a No-Brainer for me to go!!!!
Again, planning for it was easy - you know the dates well in advance that you could schedule the time off and start your saving for the trip.

And it can be that easy, but you have to want to make the event.

You asked the question...Beyonce and Halle Berry both in the same time, during 4 complete days....

I am like Frenchy, I would have worked them both over 4 days....

Default k-lo

K-lo your right.

For anyone who has not seen the hall of fame, that is a big draw for the mfca convention also because it is right in town. for me it was supporting the MFCA convention first. Going to the football game with all the coaches second.(k-lo was crazy at the redskin game.) I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE HALL OF FAME IN THE 3 YEARS I HAVE BEEN GOING.

I won't lie, for miggle, THE EMBASSY SUITES is the big draw for me. They just happend to connect with a great hotel with a great atomsphere. I WISH THEY WOULD COME BACK TO B-MORE. It was jammed packed.

I can understand a lot of those concerns. Back in my hockey days in the summers I would be travelling across most of western Canada playing and occasionally having to go out east.

It was usually three or four road trips a year. (amateur players we pay out of our own pocket) Really the only way some of us could do it was to put money aside all year to be prepared for a month to month and a half stretch of hockey road trips.

For myself I would love to attend something like a Miggle convention or a tourney in California etc. But 6 weeks notice makes it tough (in regards to Miggle) though now I know that this is the sort of thing that happens in January so I can plan for it.

Go to the events you can afford to go to. Have fun while you are there and share the experiences with the rest of us!
