Stats analysis
Everyone likes to play in a style that they consider to be realistic. As such, the stats for the games should match that level of realism. After taking some time off from playing, I had the chance to look back and analyze my last season. I’m always trying to find that perfect balance between offense and defense. Sometimes I think my rules favor the offense too much, and then suddenly I will have a few defensive gems and I think I’m not favoring the offense.
Looking back at my stats, I’m basically satisfied with the results. Individually, they may not look too realistic, but taken as a whole for the entire game, they aren’t too far off. Here’s what I mean. For the running backs, I had one player run for just over 1,000 yards in 9 games. The top 5 averaged 830 yards, or 92 yards per game. That part is ok. Individually, though, they averaged 11.6, 10.3, 8.3, 7.2, and 13.0 yards per carry. That part is not realistic. Looking at a per play average, they are running about twice the NFL average. But, since I’m running 80 plays per game, which is probably ½ a normal game, the game average equals out, if that makes any sense. As for the QB’s, the top 5 averaged 1353 yards for 9 games, or 150 per game. This is probably lower than the NFL average, but maybe about average for college??? They ranged from a best of 13 TD’s to 6 INT’s, to a worst of 7 TD’s to 16 INT’s. The ratings went from a best of 111.3 to a low of 59.6 with an overall average of 88.5 I think that’s not too far off from normal. As for points, the top team had 272 points, which in a 16 game season would be 483 .points, which had happened before in the NFL. The worst team had 217 points, which would be 386 in a 16 game season. Probably higher than normal. I could make some rule changes to lower the points, but I think the higher points are because I use the dice to pick the defense while I pick the offense and can adjust depending on what the defense shows. No doubt if I had to play against another coach, the defenses would have been harder to move the ball against and the scores would not have been as high. I may go to charts for both offense and defense with NO adjustments and just let the guys duke it out, but I don’t know if that would be any better than how I’m playing now. For those who keep track of their games, how do your stats compare. Are you happy with them overall? What would you like to see instead? Just curious.

Stats Analysis
I do keep stats. Sometimes more detailed than others. I am currently playing 2 leagues. In the 1974 WFL, I only played one possession per team for the double elimination rounds so didn't really keep too detailed stats, basically just overall team stats. In the CFL, I am keeping a more detailed play by play record so thus more detatiled stats.
Really can't put too much stock in the stats, especially since I am using the TTQB for passing and kicking so these stats would only reflect my personal statistics and admittedly I sometimes make two or three attempts at a pass simply because since I can't get completely around the game board the way it is set up now, I am often throwing at unbalanced and akward angles. I also use very basic defenses so again stats are not a true measure of how teams would actually perform if playing against another coach. What I enjoy most about playing solitiare is just the overall visual effect of seeing the teams on the field in various uniforms, usually throwbacks and not always home (dark) jerseys against away (white) jerseys. Mostly both teams in dark uniforms sometimes both in white. What I mostly use stats for are just to make the write ups about my solitaire play more interesting, and to seed teams for the next rounds in a tournament and future seasons, not for individual acomplishments.

Stats
When I played in my solitare league in the 70's and 80's my running back averaged about 7.5 yds per play. I only passed on 3rd down but the completion % was between 65% and 75%. Some stats you might look at are the yards per attempt and the 3rd down conversion %. You can match the results with the NFL on the Elias Sports Bureau.

I will look over my stats to see where things might need to be adjusted, but not until my ECFA season (56 games total) is over, so I have a decent sample size.

i keep tracking of stats of every player (24 players, which mean 11 offense, 11 defense, a punter & a kicker) on an excel spread sheet
on a 32 teams 6 game schedule, that's enough for me (LOL!!!) Take it easy Benster from north of the border

After 1 week and just a few games, these are the stats of the league. However, towards season end, I would expect the leading rusher to average about 9 yards per game. For me, that's a little too high but I can handle that.
In the passing game, those numbers are right where they ought to be. I would hope that most top passers will be on a weekly basis 20-25-300-3 TDs and if that happens, it will be what I want. I would think the best receivers will average about 7 catches per game. With 100 plays, the opportunities will come for receivers to spring loose. I am pretty satisfied with what I should expect although having 5 200 yard rushers after Wk1 is certainly not something I want to see that often. Any touch suppose to bring the rushing averages down! I want my great backs at 7-8 yds/rush! That way, I feel like my time is worthwhile and I am not playing power ball without any imagination.
