The original idea of the Melee was to promote the game in the Great Plains area and more specifically Kansas. In that one single goal it has failed miserably. We havent completed a full season since 2008. The Tornado Alley West has completed 2009 & 2010 but the East is silent.
No League play evolved from the Tournament. This coupled with Tournaments appearing out of thin air on the same date drawing plolitical clout by well known coaches drove the last nail in the coffin.
Our affiliation with the "other" Pro league had conflicts on dates as well and we were asked to move our date. Now it isnt a problem.
Moving the location to Kansas City to be more convienent for travelers puts not only a larger finanicial burden but a logistical burden as it is 4 hours to Kansas City for me.
That about sums it up. I didnt come to this decision easily. I finally arrived at this decision when I thought about the original goal of the Tournament.
