Coaches age 35 & Under......
I would like to speak directly to ALL of you. My name is Jamel I'm a coach who has been back in this hobby for about 4 years now. I am 35 years old and I reside in the Detroit Metro Area. I believe we were one of the last generation of coaches who could walk into a store and buy a superbowl before the almighty Atari 2600 began it's domination, then came the others and in early 1990's EA Sports introduced us to Madden. It was from this point on electric football didn't provide enough for us. The video games had us hooked. The joy we got from watching men buzz around the board was replaced with Video games. Well many of you just like me came back to the hobby.
It's now your turn to pass this tourch. A few months ago I almost walked completely away from the hobby because I allowed others (A older generation of coaches) around me to ruin my playing experiences. The true essence of this game for me was painting, tweaking, playing and fellowshiping. The fellowshiping was replaced with WINNING. I thought I completely lost that desire to do anything else with the hobby except walk away. It took for me to sit down with my day one coaches and a younger generation of coaches to regain the passion for this hobby. This is the challenge that I'm throwing out to you coaches 35 and younger. We need to continue to bring in fresh blood to make sure our hobby can survive and move into the century. This is no knock at tradition but we are that bridge between the old and the young. We can relate to the youth and communicate to them on their level. We have to continue to bring more younger coaches into our hobby. We also have the ability to bring them in and explain traditions of the past. Believe it or not here in this hobby there are various cultures within the culture of electric football. Often times it's the younger culture that is misunder stood. Our older generation tends to be more serious and often times take us a little too serious or try to read too much into how we communicate. We are the link! I challenge all of you to do two things before the end of the year. #1. Recruit a young coach under the age of 21. All you need to do is get 1 coach under 21 into the hobby. #2. Bring back 1 coach of your peers into the hobby. Any of your boys that you used to play with back in the day or even a few years ago. This is a simple task but this will be baby steps towards making sure our hobby continues to grow. And with that said Detroit City EFL and Great Lakes EFL I'm back. To my young generation....... When they see my new chargers watch the Great Lakes go crazy yeah watch the Great Lakes go crazy I pop my collar and Im doing my thing! Can't leave EFL alone the game needs me! |

35 & Under...
Another great thread written by someone who constantly brings something positive to this hobby. I met Jamel in '06 at Miggle's Baltimore convention. I got hang out with him an BP for quite a while over that weekend. We've stayed in touch ever since. This guy has a fine football mind and has specific ideas about making things better in Miniature football. I'm glad he decided to stick around and keeps contributing his thoughts on this message board and to those around him. A quality guy if ever there was...
Nice job Jamel Peace, Don |
