Up late one night with nothing to do...
Has anyone ever tried to cut two TTC dials in half and join the two halves together to come up with one dial that has four prongs, similar to the ITZ dials? I have tried this and can't seem to find a glue or anything that will hold the two pieces together. I am convinced this can be done.

Better Yet...
Have you spliced two TTCs together so that the base has a round front AND a round back AND two dials? Can you say independent steering...???
There's only one place I know that's allowed and that's The Texas Shootout. Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone. |

I once tried to take a rookie base, cut slits in the sides and put a TTC dial in.
It didn't work.

Have ya tried Super Glue?
I know it sounds like something you'd obviously tried.. OR.. you could try this stuff that they use for RC racing.. It holds the tires on the wheel... I just can't remember what it's called... HEY GENO.. Give the guy the name of that stuff.. I used it when I was taking FF.com figures and getting them down to 2.0. |

i just recently purchased a testors product called plastic cement. it is brush on, not the squeeze tube junk, and it looks VERY toxic. it just might work. i'll try it and let you know.

Tried a bunch of glues!
Yes, Superglue was the first one I tried, they even have a two part glue called Plastic Fusion, tried that to no avail as well. I picked up about six different glues in all to date and they all look promising but the two halves will split apart very easily, nothing is holding.
Next is to try some good old fashioned heat with some extra plastic shavings from a dial and try a "soldering" type technique and see how that goes. Thanks guys and I always welcome glue suggestions if you come up with any.

That is sick, I am inspired now, I may throw a Frankenstein movie in the DVD player to keep me motivated lock the door to my hobby room until I come up with something evil and twisted that responds well to the gentle vibrations of my vintage 620.

now that i think of it, some injection molded materials must be heat treated before having paint applied to them. i think that you are on the right path, just run an open flame across the part to be glued, don't melt it, just get it glossy, then apply the glue, let it cool down and see if it holds. this has worked out well for me on the few occasions that i have needed to paint certain injection molded materials, before heat treatment, the paint would blow off with compressed air, after heat treatment, it took a shard of metal to scratch the paint off. regardless, it's worth a try.
