Position By Position
In regards to MF, what makes one player different from another? Why is a Center not a Tight End? Is it all size? Or is it speed? How does that translate into MF? Can we categorize a player's position by their base? There are essentially 6 different groups of players: Backs, Receivers and Linemen on Offense; and Linemen, Linebackers and DBs on Defense. Are there 6 different types of bases that we could assign to each group? There are Standard TTCs, ProLine TTCs, Tornado Alleys and ITZ Dials. Then there are Standard Rookies, Proline Rookies, R/Ls (original and repros), and Diamonds. Can we say ONLY OL/DL can use dialed bases; RBs and LBs can only use ProLines; and then WRs and DBs can only use R/Ls and Diamonds? Would that be too fanatical or would you/could you play that way? Or would that basically make everybody's team the same and thus boring?
I guess, after posing these thoughts, I like seeing how everyone else bases up their teams. I especially like to see all the ways guys try to matchup to each other. I like seeing the obvious mismatch of a CB on a Diamond vs. a WR on a TTC. But then 30yds downfield that CB is in perfect position with the WR to make the QB think twice! I like to see DL on Standard Rookies eat-up an entire OL on TTCs and the other coach just shakes his head in wonder. So as you can see, I talked myself out of the original direction of the post. rtfl$ Last edited by JIMBO : 12-22-2007 at 12:08 AM. |
