Default Saints Prove My Point About Reggie Bush

To those who saw the post last week criticizing Reggie Bush for not being more of a breakout player, the Saints this week proved my point.

I argued that the Saints were not getting enough carries to their running backs to make an impact and it didn't necessarily speak to the talent of Reggie Bush (or lack there of). I argued that Bush only averaged 13 touches per game putting them at about a 4:1 ratio of pass to run. Who can eat with so little on the plate?

Fast-forward to this week: Brees - 45 pass attempts ; Stecker 13 carries for 45 yards. 3.8 yds rushing. Translation: no offensive line; 3-steps and throw the football.

Bush lead the team last year in catches and is still 2nd this season which says a lot as the Brees leads all quarterbacks in passing attempts. Only a coaching change or new offensive linemen will break Bush out of his slump. Of course we'll have to wait until 2008.

Thumbs up R.b.

DM,

you are on point about R.B. . He is nice on the field!!!! Hands down!!!! My son told me he is about 6 feet tall? He has the talent of a nasty back but the height of a WR? Hmmmm. The Coach needs to reevaluate what stood out when he was drafted

Coaching change O Line tune up Remember when the great Emmit Smith was at his best, he had an O-Line that loved him and it dictated every time he touched the ball He was a necessary threat when passed to but he was utilized to what was his standout talent.....the run and to enhance that the Cowboys spent the money on the talent to create running situations for him. flg$ There are oh so many other great backs that had and have their day and check the weight, skill, and passion of their O line as well as the FB that opens the holes, you will see the evidence of a team well coached and an owner that has given a coach the power to get the talent needed for success....for example Jimmie Johnson and his coaching tenure with the cowboys, he was at his best when he was in control of his team and a Super bowl champion. They took his power and tried to coach the team from the upper box(owner control) and decided Jimmies decisions meant nothing because they had the talent and so they gave the coaching responsibility to a coach(friend of owner) with less coaching skill/talent than Johnson and they got another SB win because of the talent and discipline established by Johnson. After that you got the Cowboys in the post Johnson era.(Switzer) flg$

DM it takes changes all over but no team can center their win possibilities based on 1 player or the coach and this holds true in all sports....for example Jordan and the Bulls before they got a TEAM concept to work enabling the "Dynasty" to prevail.flg$ flg$ flg$ flg$ flg$ flg$ flg$ flg$

DM I hope that Reggie gets Duce back and the line he needs to run behind and he will get to where his talent will take him to a higher level, by no means is R.B. a farce, he is the truth and you will see in time.... but he needs to be protected, get the ball as much as possible and he I repeat must be protected or God forbid the potential injuries will in time diminish his trueness.
Keep in mind we thought Herschel Walker ran out of bound too much (avoiding excessive contact) in his days but he had his health and stayed in NFL and that defunct football league much longer, Bo Jackson went at the tackler (no real protection)and needed a hip replacement shortening his career "Things happen" flg$

Default Dm....

....It is finally something we agree on man, and that is the ones who criticize Reggie Bush are pretty much the ones that are armchair QB's, and that have never played a down of football, let alone try to tackle a Reggie Bush. So for them to hate on the young man because he is with a mediocre team, one that overachieved last year, is just ridiculous. I pointed out the fact that AP has a great offensive line that's why is doing what he is doing. However he got his ********** handed to him last night by the Redskins. Give the Saints organization some time, they will get the pieces needed to sure up the running game. It takes time.

Default Rj Mr Bush Is................................

Soft As Toilet Paper. Mr. Mccallister Was Running For More Than A Thousand Yards A Season With That Same Line That Bush And That Journeyman Stecker Are Running Behind. Bush Is A Great Kick Returner, Punt Returner And A Person Who Makes Plays On The Edge, Not In Between The Tackles. Bush Is A Great One On One Player With Space, Last Time I Checked Stecker Was Not Mr. Mccallister Fellas So Please Quit Making That Stupid Argument. Mccallister Is A Down Hill Runner Who Wears Down A Defense, Stecker And Bush If They Ran The Ball 40 Times A Game Will Not Wear Down A Defense, But Mccallister Will And Did For Years. Rj, You Know I Played Two Pre-season Games For The Lions In 1981, So I Have Played At The Highest Level.

Evertime You Guys Speak About The Saints Not Having A Offensive Line, Think About How Gayle Sayers Did'nt Have One, Barry Sanders Did Not Have One, Walter Payton Did Not Have One. Not Only Did They Not Have A Line But They Also Had No Top Flight Skilled Offensive Weapons To Assist Them, Payton Had No One, No Qb, No Wr's, No Te's, Sanders Had None Of The Above, Neither Did Gayle Sayers. Lets See, Bush Has A Pro Bowl Qb Brees, A Pro Bowl Wide Reciever Colston, And Other Gifted Wide Recievers To Stretch The Defense And A Pro Bowl Back In Mccallister. Those Other Backs Did It On Heart, Desire And Toughness And Everybody In The Stadium Knew They Were Going To Get The Ball And They Still Coud Not Be Stopped.

Mr. Bush Is Average Fellas, Funny How He Has Done Absolutely Nothing Since Mccallister Got Hurt, He Can Still Catch Right? He Still Was Returning Punts Right? He's Window Dressing And Soft.

A Team Must Play To It's Strength, With The Loss Of Mccallister, The Coach New He Could Not Be A Grind It Out Team On The Ground And He Lost His Play Action Passing All Together Because Teams Don't Fear Bush And Journeyman Stecker, He Obviously Knows His Personnel A Lot Better Than Both Of You, He Also Knows That Bush And Stecker Are Not Every Down Feature Backs. He Has No Choice But To Play To His Strengths Right Now Which Is Passing The Ball. The Patriots Play To Their Strength, Throwing The Ball, They Know Running The Football Is Not Their Strength, Do You Guys Watch And Understand Football?????????? Because If You Did, This Would Not Be A Topic At All Mr. Decal Master. Can You Imagine The Patriots Running The Ball 85% Of The Time With Maroney Or Passing The Ball 85% Of The Time To Moss, Welker And Crew.

When Mr. Mccallister Returns Next Year, Everything Will Be Great In Saint Land Again And He Will Run For His 1,300 Yards And You Will Not Have Dumb Questions Again About That Same Old Weak Offensive Line They Have. Bush Did'nt Run Than Many Times At Usc. Why?????????? He Could Not Beat Out Lindell White Between The Tackles. Those Are The Dumbest Stats In The World, Stecker And Bush, Two Non Feature Running Backs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! Stop The Stupidity

Default Vince stop it man....

...Why you think Deuce is out this year because his line can't ----ing block. Deuce's line before he got broke 24 carries 92yds and no td's in 3 games. You tell me where the production is Vince. Here you are praising a guy that from what your saying should be the man.

His numbers for 3 games should be 70 carries 280yds and maybe 3 td's but as you can see he only had a 3rd of that, why VINCE, why because he has no offensive line. Please don't use the line issue because Gayle Sayers never had to run around a defense where everyone was running under 5 flat. Now Barry that is another story man, hands down the greatest. What I am telling you is that sometimes it is the system and a lot of it has to do with the players, in this case your wrong Vince, the saints line stinks!!

Now Sean Peyton is a guy that likes to throw the ball, Drew Brees has one the quickest releases in the game and he processes information fast, so of course the pass is first option. Their system is Pass first run 2nd. The line stinks so what else could they do. The system they use sucks when it comes to the running game so that's why the 40 something pass attempts.

Default Rj Quit Smokin That

Crack......................................... The Saint Line Is Fine, Gayle Sayers Was Not The Fastest Player By Any Means In His Era, That Falls To Jim Brown's Era. Did Bush Start At Usc?, Was He The Feature Back At Usc? Did He Lead The Pac 10 In Rushing? Did He Lead The Pac 10 In Touchdowns? No. No, No And No!!!!!!! Window Dressing, He's Not Playing Fresno State, He Is Soft. Why Did Lindell White Score More Touchdowns Than Any Back In Usc History??? Why Was'nt It Bush? Bush Is Terry Metcalf 2007 Vs 1973. Same Player, Diffent Era. At Least Terry Started Though, Bush Does Not Even Start For The Saints, He's Behind The Pro Version Of Lindell White, Mr. Mccallister. Same Scenario, Not A Feature Back. Third Down Specialist At Best, Kick Returner/punt Returner And Not Even The Best In The League At Those Positions Either.

Mr. Mccallister Suffered A Season Ending Knee Injury Which Is Common For An Nfl Running Back That Carries The Load, Has Nothing To Do With His Line, Sorry!!! I'll Say It Again In Lamen Terms, Bush And Journeyman Stecker Can't Run, They Put No Fear In Any Defense In The League. Bush Nor Journeyman Stecker Push The Pile Backwards After First Contact, They Have No Assssssss!!!! To Do So. They Are Not Power Backs Rj, Hell They Cant Push You And Your Old And Out Of Shape Like Me. Funny How They Have The Same Line As They Have Had For A Few Years And No One Complained About Them Until Mccallister Got Hurt.

It's Not The System, It's Mr. Bush, He Is Just Not A Feature Back, He Was'nt In College, He Ain't In The Pro's. Is That A Coincedence Rj?????? He's A Nice, Soft Third Down Back? Sorry Rj, The Line Is Fine Just Like They Have Been In The Past.

As For The Comparison With Minnesota's Line, Last Year Taylor Ran For 1,200 Yards In 16 Games, Adrianne Pederson Had 1,100 Yards In Eight Games, The First Two He Did Not Start. Pederson Is A Better Back Than Taylor, Thus More Yards And From The Same Offensive Line From A Year Ago. Do I Have To Teach You Guys Everything About Football?????????

Bush Is Soft Dog, I Played In Two Pre-season Games With Billy Sims In 1981 And Bush Cannot Hold His Jock Strap, I Saw It Up Close And Live And By The Way Billy Simms Did It With No Talent Around Him Either And They Had A Truly Screwed Up System, It's Called True Greatness And Bush Does Not Have That. Bush Does Not Run With Power And He Is Easy To Tackle, Too Many Arm Tackles Bring Him Down, Soft.....................................

mccallister hurt his knee jumping for a pass that was thrown too high and he landed wrong, nothing to do with the o-line at all.
