Where are you located ?
There are guys in our league that have RR's board, Watts boards and a couple of 513 boards. We are located in central Ohio. You cannot go wrong with any of the one's I listed. I know there are other board makers out there, I just have no first hand experience with them. I have my own personal preference , but my board suits my playing style. If you have the chance the best thing I could recommend is to get a look at the custom boards in person , maybe even play on them for alittle bit and see which one you like the best. I will never go back to a stock size board, the bigger the better. |

RR is Reggie Rutledge
There is no bad custom made boards. All have their own niche. MegaWatts hand paints his fields, while most others are field covers. I'm sure you will be getting a PM, or you should try to PM some of the board makers. To see Reg's work, do a post search, type in Click Clack!
Jeff said it best, you have to get on the board, and see how your team runs on them. Diamond boards are great. They are very nicely made. A little heavier than the others. Reg's boards are as sturdy as they come. Great running motor. Light weight, and very easy for travel. Bruce's board are hand painted. You can't beat something hand painted. His is also light and easy to transport You also have Mr. Porsche out in the west coast. The best eye candy of the bunch. His cost a lil more than the others. Monster Boards are the name. I have a bruce, diamond, RR, and I made 2 custom boards myself. I love all of them. It's like picking which of your kids do you like more!?!?! Good luck, and I hope this helps. And if I left out any board makers, I apologize. Nat'l

Boards...
Quote:
First let me welcome you to the Miniature football community. The question about boards that was asked by Project Dawg was actually answered. Jeff and Chuck (who play in different leagues) told everyone which boards are being used in their neck of the woods. Meanwhile CorEy (AKA Prettyboy) let everyone know which boards he personally owns, and did a great job of breaking down the different board makers and what each one brings to the table. You're probably thinking... Yeah, but that doesn't tell me... which board is the Best?!? That's because the words "best board" are subjective. Each board manufacturer is going to do their BEST to provide their customers with a QUALITY board. Jeff gave everybody good advice when he wrote: "If you have the chance the best thing I could recommend is to get a look at the custom boards in person , maybe even play on them for alittle bit and see which one you like the best." Loosely translated... If you can find a league that's close to you or attend one of the many tournaments in the 2008 season; this will give you a chance to see custom boards, and run your team on them. You can choose for yourself which one YOU like the best. If you're unable to get out there in person, you're probably going to have to make your decision based on what others coaches own, or what the different leagues are using. So far... these types of boards have been mentioned: Watts, Porche, Diamond, Rutledge, and 513. I too own custom big boards from different manufacturers, and I haven't received a bad one yet. They are all quality and my men run great on them. I can't ask for much more than that. I hope this helps. Peace, OldSchool |

Boards...
P. Dawg,
In my opion a good board is the most important piece of equipment that you can have in this hobby. When you get a good one gaurd it well and take very good care of it. The Tudor model #600 board is the best board going today. They are all usually well kept and in good runing shape. They can be found on EBAY. Try to keep the price below$60.00 and ask question on board speed, dents scratches or dings! These boards run fast and the speed is easy to adjust . They are great for tweaking and they are durable. NOw wiht that said, the scope of playing inthe hobby changes form league to league. If you want to play in a weighted league you will need a "big board". It will have to be custom made or you can attempt to buil dit your self. That's a story for another day. Right now, Bruce watts makes a wonderful board. His artistic skills makes his boards some of the most beautiful boards across this country. Football Figures.com make a strong and durable board that has a really nice adjustable motor. Reggie has also made it so that you can change your field to macth whatever team you want to use. Buzzball also makes a large baord that's very popular in the mid atlantic area. There are other boards makers out there and they should chime in to tell about there products. If you can imagine it, there is someone in this community who can build it for you. Start with finding a good model #600 tudor board. The have the green field of play with the NFL logo in the middle . One end zone id RED and the other end zone is Navy blue. The New #600 with the powder blue and red endzones are horrible. Also be careful if you want a Model#620. They are bigger than the 600's ,but some of them are in bad shape and people are selling them at outrageous prices. Ask around this chat board and check on Ebay, but ask seriuous questions before bidding/paying for anything on Ebay. It's not like it use to be. Hope this helps! |
