Default Voice from the past

I just recieved this e-mail from Sandra Smeby and thought I would pass it along. It's hard to believe that it's been a few years now since Doc passed away. He may be gone, but his spirit will be with us always.

Hi

My name is Sandra Smeby and I am Doc's widow. I just happened to have a really bad cold the other night couldn't sleep and decided to "check out" a couple of Doc's favourite websites for old times sake. I was reduced to tears to see the wonderful tribute you two guys have paid designing colours and teams in his memory. He would be so thrilled.

I also saw there was a conference is his memory at the convention I really hope that one year his daughter and I could come over for one of them. His faithful little men just sit in a cupboard sad and lonely wouldn't he just love it if his daughter played one of his teams for him.

You know the sad thing is he passed away so quickly at the end he never had a chance to sort his men out and I don't even know which was his best team.

It moves me greatly to know that he is as missed by you guys as he is us.

My very best wishes
Sandra

Default nice tribute !

This story really touched me. This is what the EF/MF hobby is all about. I'm still kind of new but this makes me glad I'm trying to be a part of this afterall. I didnt know this man but sure wish I had a chance to talk to him. To his family I wanna offer by deepest sympathy.

Default Doc was loved

Doc was so loved in the game of miniature football. He was our link overseas for many years. Doc had many friends in the game who lives he touched, me being one of those.

I remember Doc had sent me a letter one week via email and the next month, he had passed. That was so tragic. But his memory always remains with me as he was considered a trailblazer like other legends in this game.

Doc was a great guy...

I remember how cool he thought it was when I told him, for my huge solitaire league.. that I had painted the

Helsinki Roosters
Copenhagen Towers
Stuttgart Scorpions
Hamburg Blue Devils
Rome Gladiators
Rotterdam Trojans
Cologne Crocodiles
Stockholm Mean Machine
Madrid Panteras
and the Graz Giants.

It was very thoughtful for his widow to send you the email..

Send her our very best Al..

Default Thanks for sharing....

I too was moved by this message. I know someday I will be in a better place, but it would be nice if someone would take one more snap, one more play for me....

The things we take for granted....

God Bless Sandra for sharing her story

i miss him too. we had many many emails about different subjects, but it usually always contained info about the 67 deluxe players, i am honored to have several hand painted figures done by him. of course, they are all on original 67 deluxe figures too. RIP Doc.

a little more.....
i think the most exitement me and Doc stirred up was way back when we started discussing a EF Hall of Fame. it was on miggles very first chat forum that talks began. i was kind of excited to be a part of the "idea" of one, but Doc really ran with it, he had incorporated help on the project from several of you guys. i do remember it taking off, but it kind of lost fuel along the last 7 or 8 years. there was even a small website for it too. i wonder if that original one still exist, thanks for the memories Al.
