Default Figures...The Evolution of a Superhero

Yo! I've attached some pics of a figure that I did. I've been working with HeroClix and SportsClix which are superhero and baseball figures. I've shared this info with a few people but I've been wanting to share it with everyone in detail.

I was speaking with Biglock about this process and he got hyped. So hyped that he researched it and found a HeroClix figure that I hadn't seen. He posted the pic and then I got hyped. That's how EF workes...we get each other hyped! Anyway the figure was Quicksilver...here is my take.

The first figure on the far left is the Quicksilver figure in it's pure form. Here is a link to the company that makes them.

However you'd probably do better on ebay, that's how I got mine.

The second figure is Quicksilver turned into a football player. I shaved stuff off and added a helmet, shoulderpads, and thigh pads. The pads were added with Miliput, an epoxy clay. you can find it here:

At this point I test the figure on a field to make sure that it is balanced properly. I had to take this guy of and reglue him to the stand about 3 times before I got him right.

The third figure is a mold of the second figure. I researched molding by reviewing the Mad Labber's instructions and speaking with my former league mate Chet Haptonstal. I still don't have molding down to a "T" but I've gotten better and their information was super valuable. I actually inject the resin into the mold with a disposable syringe. I had to try something else because pouring it didn't work for me. You can find the starter kit for molding that I use here:

The fourth figure is my spanking brand new Rudi Johnson. He weighs in at a cool 2.9 grams on a boiled base.

That's about it, holla with questions!

My kids have around 300 hero clix. I have thought many times that a certain figure would make a great looking ef figure. Just never pulled the string on it.

DMC,

Nice work bro... very nice! That's definitely a creative way to make a custom figure. I can't wait to see more of your work.

Thanks fellas. I can't take total credit...my leaguemate Celo turned me on to the HeroClix, he was doing it before me so I gotta give him luv. J. Priest, if you get a chance, holla with some of the Hero figures that you feel will translate well, I'm always looking for new ones to do and I know I haven't seen them all.

There is a hobby store here in town that sells Hero clix individually for as little as 10 cents apiece. Looks like I will take a trip to his shop soon.

With inspiration from this thread I picked up a couple figures,

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix...sp?unitid=2070
Im thinking I'm going to try to make him into a right tackle.

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix...sp?unitid=8866
He's going to be a stiff arm RB

http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix...sp?unitid=8845
and he is going to be a WR with the diving catch...

So far here is my progress,
