Default 4 what it's worth...

...I read about the Detroit Convention in the Michigan Chronicle just days before the event. Even though I had not seen anything on miniature football in about 35 years I decided to stop in on a lark. I guess you could say that I was your average Joe walking in off the street. Though Mike made some valid points I must say that I felt like a kid again that Saturday afternoon. Could the business end have been handled differently....sure it could. But I am now back at this hobby at age 46 all because of the convention. Everyone was very friendly towards me regardless of how stupid my questions were. The fellowshipping going on almost brought a tear to my eye (I said almost...had to man up). I saw wholesome family fun with kids and grownups having clean enjoyable competition. I ended up spending a few hard earned bucks myself (and this in the mist of hard times here in Detroit). I do wish they were able to accept credit cards but that did not dampen the spirit I felt (in fact, it was probably a good thing for me). They had a decent crowd during the time I was there. Perhaps the convention held by the MFCA will have the splash that some of you want but I can't knock the Miggle convention at all. It's made a man feel like a kid again and that was worth time spent on a Winter's afternoon.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Cool Livonia

Not Detroit.

The recession contributed heavily to attendance, not location. By comparison, Chicago was not much bigger and it had three times the turnout two years prior. Disposable income is just not there like it used to be and hobbies, all leisure time activities, are the first to go when the money gets tight. The bills come first. Anyways, it's what you make it and considering you could have almost walked to the place where others are flying in across the country it would be hard for you to understand the turnout.

I know I had fun and save for those who try to empathize because they couldn't take over the convention in the past with their products, well much like they do this forum now, makes some appear to have a common ground although it simply not the case. Embrace the hobby Mardeuz.

Oh yeah, just a reminder, Chuck Pitchford, Shawn Nobles, and Simmie Lassiter were original members of the Motor City EFL. I told you about them and their league when I sold you figures, now you use it. Just don't call it innovation.
