Quick Question Re Sprint Out Passing
hOW FAR IS YOUR QB ALLOWED TO RUN ON A SPRINT LEFT OR RIGHT BEFORE HE GETS RID OF THE BALL. Im talking a designed passing play, not when he is being chased by a lineman. Can he run all the way to the sideline then get rid of it or does he have to stay in some sort zone. NOT REALLY SURE THAT'S WHY IM ASKING.

Dre,
The way I play is when a QB rolls out he can throw the ball at anytime unless he goes over the line of scrimmage or runs backwards five yards. If he is running out of bounds then he will be allowed to pivot up field. When it is established that he is running all defensive players NOT engaged may pivot for the tackle.

In the DFW League, you can roll your QB until one of several events occurs: * He is sacked... (tackled by defense) * You run him out of bounds like a knucklehead... * He runs back more than 15 yards from the line of scrimmage at which point he is considered sacked..... * He crosses the line of scrimmage going forward. At this point, the defensive coach takes over the control and runs him until tackled or until he reachs 10 more yards, at which time the defense is allowed to adjust their unengaged players (base on base) towards the QB; at which time he is usually toast... I use this technique often in the DFW league.. Really opens up the game... - Barry
