Default The big 'Brush Off'

We already have numerous tourneys going on all around the country where guys can play against each other. The winners get to have bragging rights as the top coach for at least a little while. Then there's the fastest man, stongest man, best passer and kicker contests as well. But there are other facets of the hobby that guys enjoy, but lacking the competition that coaches have when playing each other. One of those is painting. How about a contest? Each person is given a figure. Then they use whatever brushes, toothpicks, magnifying glass etc. they want to create a predetermined team. No decals, just paint. Everyone paints their guy and then puts him on display to be judged by any and all passerbys. There could be some sort of point system used to determine the winner. Anyone up to the challenge? :o

Default I am in too!!!

I'll take that challenge. Decals are icing but I've been baking cakes for a long time. Lets do this.

I think a Detroit Red Wing football player may be in order.

Al, if you want you can set this up at the MFCA convention. We can award points for participants and to the winner for the overall MFCA Challenge Points trophey winner. Great idea. This could go hand in hand with the custom/paint contest that is going on that weekend.

What I propose is something like this. A neutral person, someone not in the contest, gives each person the same type of figure, Miggle guard, Buzzball Mr. Everything, FF.net reciever, whatever it is, has the main parts pre-painted. Helmet, jersey and pants. The socks and shoes are solid white. Let's say that the helmet is silver, the jersey blue and the pants white. We are each given bottles of paint. Blue, silver, white that are already there, flesh color, and whatever other colors that are to be used. Then we are given a picture of the logo and team that we are going to paint. (This will be a secret so that we can't practice before hand) It could be a NFL team, college team, USFL, AFL WFL, or an imaginary team.

We have to paint the stripes for the jersey, pants and helmet if it has them, the socks with stripes if it has them, the helmet logo, skin color, face mask and number on the front and back of the jersey. To keep it a little simple, we'll skip the names on the back and the shoulder numbers. Or, if everyone wants, we can paint them as well. When we are finished, the figures are judged. I think 4 catagories should do.

1) Stripes
2) Helmet logo
3) Numbers
4) Overall neatness

Points are based on the number of entries. Let's say 7 guys enter. Judges look at the figures and each one gives points. The painter who has the best looking stripes gets 1 point, the next best gets 2 points and so on until the last guy has 7 points. Then you do the same for the helmet logo, numbers and overall neatness. We add up all the points from the judges and the painter with the least number of points wins the contest.

We can bring our own brushes, toothpicks, pins, magnifying glass, holders, whatever we normally use when painting, but no decals!
Whatch think?
