Default EF Leagues and Real Life Coaching

I have been away from this forum because I have been coaching a semi pro football team http://www.waldorfwarriors.com/coaching_staff.html

The page has not been up dated to show me as the head coach.

This hooby and leagues are like coaching a real team and hear is how ....

The football players pay a registration fee, much like members pay to be in you're league.

Many ( Think there going tobe WR, RB, KR etc ) but they just dont have the talent or skill set for the position , so I have to place them were it will be best for the team.

Members who join you're league think that they know what is best as far as rules etc.
Many of my player are learning things they didn't know, and they come from other semi pro teams, they are willing to learn in order to be better at there game.

Members of you're league should be the same way but are not.

I have had 1 player quit because he wanted to play one position but didn't have the skill for it (LB) , so he was moved to the line (LT).

How many guys quit a league because there idea was not used, or the had a hard time adjusting to the game?

Over All I have found that I am respected by all of me players, and every practice players are all ways telling me ( I see why you're the Head Coach )

If you are a member of a league , it is you're duty to honor and respect you're leader . You are not showing respect when you all ways want to change a rule because it puts a light on you're weakness, or you think you have a say because you pay a fee to join a league.

You have a head coach ( The Commissioner of you're league )

You are the player ( The member of that league )

When you do the things that many of you do, ( the reasons why some of you break off and start you're own league )

It is a clear that you do not want to fall under the leadership of another and that type of attidude, we see this in real football as well.

League members all over need to be better member as you would be better players on a football team/in you're league

A positive attitude, and a willingness to follow direction, respect for you're leader will insure that you're league will run like it should and grow.

For the leaders of leagues/ Head Coach , you are charged with leading men, be fair, be just, you have to know more than the men you lead in order to gain there trust and respect.

An EF league is like a football team, and the word TEAM means T-together E-everyone A-achieves M-more.

Are you doing you're part to insure that you're league achieves more ?

Or are you acting like a spoiled child who is not getting his way ?

See you all at the SEAWALL BRAWL LEGEND'S BALL

I want to go on record and say that I am against any and all posts that ignite these types of discussions. Which is why I left the message board scene in the first place. Like burning the candle at both ends, you end up in the dark in a short period of time.

I figured I'd drop a distinction since everyone knows that AB and I often work together.

Still, this doesn't illustrate my opinions necessarily. I will remain off of the board once my decal issue with Manta Ray and Guttman is resolved. If the hobby brings you as much joy as it does to me then live it up and have a ball and do it the way you want to do it.

This is once again my last post (honest).

Anthony, good to see you posting again regardless.

Decal Master you should try to see past the garbage and focus on the big picture, promotion of MF, be it your way, his way or my way, as long as we are playing and taking this to the next level like both of you have helped do so far.

It's all good, there are always going to be differences of opinion.

Big things are coming, CBSMF fever is sweeping the nation!

Default Think About It

A commissioner is a player in this league just like ever one else,he is not the coach of the league,Rules are changed every year from the NFL,Collage,High School, on down to us,A rule is presented & the owners vote.A league should be a democracy not a dictatorship,if i think our league would better benifit from a certain rule or whatever the case may be, i shold be able to bring it to the league table for discussion without feeling i'm bucking up against the commissioner, coaches make up a league,A commissioner carries out & governs what the LEAGUE has agreed upon lets keep this thing simple, the commish is trying to coach a GAME just as u are,but thats just me.

Cool I hope you'll reconsider...

Bill AKA Decal Master,

I understand what you're saying, but one thing you have to realize is that YOU (as a member of this message board) have the ULTIMATE say in which threads you choose to respond.

If you don't like certain threads, topics, or issues... don't read them and/or reply to them. When discussions turn into disagreements let those who like it go at it. None of us are obligated to participate in the candle burning.

If different guys or factions are in a heated discussion and it doesn't affect me personally... It doesn't bother me in the least. However we (as moderators) are only going to let it go... until lines are crossed. Once that happens we're obligated to step in.

Bill I really hope this wasn't your last post, but I do undestand that you have to do what's best for you. A lot of your posts were great contributions to this message board. You've shared knowledge as well as your experiences. Why let the controversial posts drive you away when it's (always been) your choice whether or not to get involved with them?

Just something to think about.

Peace,

Don Smith

Please take the time to rearead the post as it is clear that you miss the point.

Don't let you're focus be on rules. You refer to NFL, Collage, High School but you do not see the point I'm trying to make. You're mind is closed off and I just want you to open you're mind.

This is not about rules, or styles as some may make this out to be, however it is all about personal conduct, and respect for you're self and those that are over you.

The Commissioner's role is to do what is best for the league and to protect the reputation of the league, as should it be in you're league in my opinion.

When you please others you tend to break down the structure that is set in place.

But there is a truth to you're statment, and what you stated does work when all the member are of one mind and one direction and that is to do what is best for the structure of football, to insure fair game play.

However when member abuse this privilege buy offering a change that benefits them while breaking the foundation of that structure, then the system you refer to fails.

Bill,

I am not trying to start anything, just expressing an observation based on what I have seen.

You told me that people don't like otheres because thay don't understand, they can't see the point they are trying to make, they are misunderstood.

I would think you of all people would understand that post as we have talked about that supervisor that no one wants to work under but in the end is the vary same one every one wants. And it is all about trust and respect.

Good luck on you're next game vs the Falcons

Default Light & Dark/Good & Bad

I understood the point, but every league has its own type of Al Davis. He has his ways about him, but Al Davis has been great for football, its not all bad.sometimes that outlaw keeps a league focused, the commissioner of the EFL LEAGUES are NOT THE COACH or BOSS of the LEAGUE.Yes we all have to respect the love of this great hobby that we all share.Let the outlaw play & have fun too, one or two hard heads will never be as strong as the league.

2badjim,

I agree that a league should be a democracy and not a dictatorship. We would always vote on rules, some would get put in and some would not. But the risk is this: There are always some coaches who want to change rules to suit their personal benefit as opposed to the benefit of the league. Or they will try to change a rule to work against 1 particular coach who is kicking the rest of the league's arse. To me this is wack. Make your team better or learn to coach better don't try to change a rule. Changes and suggestions are good but before we even bring to them to the table we need to make sure that we have the leagues best interest at heart!

Don't know what ya'll talking 'bout...just speaking from my experience

Default Keep It In Check

I think what is going on with all of the disagreements that we have on this board is that we fail to keep our issues with one another within certain boundaries. Basically, keep your personal issues to yourself and at home. Don’t bring them to the message board nor bring them to the tournaments. Act like you have some sense. Stop trippin’.

Present your disagreements clearly and intelligently; doing that will help to alleviate some of the strife that goes on here sometimes.
