Default Styles of Play - Realism

Guys,

Let me first say that noone's style of play has all the answers that we look for in something called Realism! This hobby is fragmented with guys with great ideas on how this game should be played. Maybe that's why there will never be unity in our beloved hobby, because everybody's right!

Passing: I like the RR system with dice. Is it realism when a coach completes
90% of his passes? In all styles except the RR and LA system, this
can happens all the time. That's why you can predict who's going to
win based on who has the best TT Pasing Skills. Base tweaking, all
you have to do is to hold off defenders long enough so your
receivers can get open. No strategy, just skill! I was told that the
Miggle Champion ran the same formation, the same play during his
championship run. But if that's the way they like to play, have more
fun!

Weight: I like the liberty of having 300 lb. LM. Unlimited weighted allows me
to do this. For Realism, unlimited weight is it. If you want
to put restrictions on how much men can weight in your league or
tournements (3.2 or 4g), you can't say you're playing real football.
But again, if that's the way you like to play, have more fun!

The Strategy Divider: Love it! But the boards are too small. Now, this style
allows more creativity on offense. Defense have to be
on their toes. It's exactly what it's call Strategy!
There's some realism in this style. Have fun!

Buzzball: For a long time I didnot like this style of play. Coaches have to
announce before the beginning of the play if they were going to run
or pass. This bothered me at first because nobody explained the
rationale behind this rule. In real football, does the QB have the
option of changing the play after the ball is snapped? NO! He comes
to the LOS, reads the defense, change the formation, and or play,
but not after the snap of the ball. If your style give coaches that
option after the snap of the ball, you're not playing real football. In
football, you call the play, and that play is runned. There are no
options! Now, I understand! If you want options, have fun!

One-Stop, Pitch,Pass, or Run:
Almost everybody's favorite and mainstream style of play in this
hobby. Perdictable! Skill Driven! Little Strategy Needed! Needs less
preparation once skills are mastered! Number of plays per quarter or
half dictates the need to score quickly with the pass. Bases does
the work. Guys love to see bases fly! Small size boards allows the
defense to use the sidelines as a 12th man. If you love it, play it
and have fun!

To create unity in the hobby, take a little from everyone, and you're come up with the best way to play EF with true realism!

Default Definig What you think Unity is may be the Key

Smitty,

This is what I think Unity is. What makes the rule thing impossible is that you're looking at guys who are experts at their style of play. So I think a unified champion may be out the question.

However, when I think in terms of unity (and I've hit this topic many times), I SIMPLY think of you and I going to one convention and hanging out. I think of the Texas Shootout, the BAMA Blast, the Seawall Brawl, the Winterfest title, the College Bowl Series all under one tent! Not from a corporate ownership thing but from the ideal of everyone of these major events being played on the same weekend at one tournament and everybody having the choice to pick which one they want to play in.

Economically, it becomes feasible to make one trip plus you get to meet all the guys from all across the country that you've heard of. I have always been willing to show what we do with the Texas Shootout, even allowing it on my Footballfigures.com Network.

I would love to take a peak in on coaches competing for the Seawall Brawl championship and then going over to another part of the covention room and seeing the Winterfest title in play. I'd love to see Anthony do his tournament thing with his MPF system.

You don't have to like what I do but I want you to see what I do. In turn, I want to see what you do. I would not come to criticize what makes your tourney successful. I would be there to uplift it.

That's where I think the unity definition rings home for me. When I spoke of this to coaches in the past, they did not want this. Some probably still would not be willing to do this but from where I am sitting (and thinking), this is how unity is developed.

Once we are in one place together, then your tournament style of play can stand on its own merits. If guys who want to venture out into other styles, let them. Don't discourage them but don't think we have to combine rules to have unity. I think more in terms of fellowship.

Unity is not the only issue here guys. That concept only applies to the 150-200 or so (dedicated) coaches in our hobby. I'll up that to 300 but I think that is too generous an estimate as far as what I can count on the message boards and league web sites.

So, we have 300 dedicated coaches for the entire United States...and we are representing the Nation's most beloved sporting event (football). The problem is that when we attempt to recruit new coaches they are turned off by the unrealistic gameplay and in your words (Smitty) "lack of strategy" needed to play the game. Many people have the attitude that they are not going to spend the $100s of dollars they need to spend to participate in a dinosaur hobby and to play football that dosen't even play like football. What would the average football intellectual say about the current method of play? They would probally ask why in the h@ll aren't we turning the players so they can react and do their jobs. We have to think of this demographic as well.

To keep this short, I will say that our agenda is to address the future of our hobby and it's really a question of what style will prove more preferred down the stretch. I always base my gameplay research on people unconnected with the hobby since they are the majority. They seem to think that our game is cute, and silly. They don't get it. Give AB credit for doing his best to upgrade our game to the next level. My job is to upgrade the way things in the hobby are presented to the people. Hence the www.mpflfootball.com web site.

We also want to unite the hobby, but under a concept not a style. The concept is that Miniature Football must play like the real thing. I know some still disagree about this, but what can we do about it?

I think the debate will continue but honestly we are focusing on future prospects more so than with the present community.

Tron,

Are you coming back to play with us this season. I am about to begin to formulate a head count.

I want to wrap this league stuff up for the moment.

Step your game up Tron. We are really going to compete hard this season. Also, if you do play, will it be MIA, or TB?

Young grasshopper,
Do you see this finger before you? It is pointing away into the heavens. Are watching? A crushing blow to the forehead! Pay attention! Don't concentrate on the finger or you will miss all of that heavenly glory!

Does that answer your question? If not stay tuned, I've got to go ask my wife?

You know you could have just said that instead of giving me a clip from Enter the Dragon.

You gotta ask your wife? Man...I'm deducting 5 points from your man-card.

Like I always tell Jenny Jen, "this ain't the U.S. Senate, we get things done quickly around here."

I'll see you on the game board...

Default I walk it like I talk it!

Man,
As much as I like electric football, there ain't nothing going on in this world more important than my wife and my puppy. Family comes second only to the Lord Jesus! When the Lord calls I jump and I'm not ashamed to admit it! When the wife calls some times a rise just a little bit quicker? I'll see you on the board grasshopper! Maimi will be the force to crush MPFL teams out there! Nuff said!
