The SEC What do you all think?
Living in Georgia, as I do, all you hear down here is that the SEC is the best conference in college football. I completely disagree. HOW WOULD ANYONE KNOW? THEY NEVER PLAY ANYONE OUTSIDE THE SOUTHEAST.
In my lifetime, the only SEC school that ever plays good competition away from the southeast, is Tennessee--they always go out west, or up to Notre Dame--so kudos to them. Never in my life seen Florida, Georgia, S.C., Ole Miss, Vandy, or LSU play outside of their general area. When Arkansas went out to USC, they got a 70-spot put on em, then a 50-spot at their own place. Auburn got swept in a home-home with the Trojans. We all know what the Trojans used to do to Alabama. HOW CAN YOU SAY YOU'RE THE BEST WHEN YOU ONLY PLAY EACH OTHER, ALONG WITH A BUNCH OF 1-AA PATSIES EVERY YEAR--LOOK AT LSU'S SCHEDULE EVERY YEAR--8 HOME GAMES? COME ON. WATCH WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GEORGIA GOES OUT TO ARIZONA ST. IN A FEW WEEKS--IT WILL BE A WOODSHED GAME--REMEMBER I SAID IT. The SEC is a size-speed conference. The reason they do not match up well against the PAC-10 is because they cannot match the athleticism of the guys in the trenches (See Auburn/USC games a few years ago). Let me know your thoughts.

When an SEC team...
beats USC for one of those NC, then i'll be impressed. For some reason, the BCS has a problem with matching up the two for the title game--hopefully this year it'll happen finally.

OK
Well LSU has beaten Arizona, Oregon St., and Arizona St. in the last 5 years. They have also beaten Ohio St., Notre Dame, and Miami in recent bowl games. Va. Tech got handled last year as well. Give them their props. GEAUX TIGERS!

Pete Carroll...
has called out the entire SEC in the last 5 years, trying to schedule a home and home series. Only Auburn, and Arkansas have accepted the challenge. Guess what their record is against them--4 and 0. Les Miles talks alot of ish, but he declined the challenge because he knows what would happen. LSU gave up 43 points to Kentucky last year, and they gave up 50 to a bad Arkansas team--they had no business in the title game.
It's easy to go 12-2 every year when you play 8 home games, including Midd. Tenn. and Louisiana Tech every year. Pete Carroll has NEVER scheduled a 1-AA team in his tenure at USC. He schedules at least one BCS conference game every single year--and wins every time. Matter of fact, the only team outside of the Pac-10 to beat USC in the last 7 years is Vince Young's Texas team in the Rose Bowl. Only Pac-10 teams understand how to compete against USC. Look it up. As a matter of fact, what the SEC does every year is like someone making love to his sister only, for his entire life, then proclaiming that she is the best maker of love in the world--they are in-breeders.

Yeah!!!
Well Kentucky and Arkansas wasn't as bad as Stanford last year. Both were ranked. . USC (and the whole Pac-10) has been overlooked when it comes to being the best as a whole, probably the east coast bias. They have come correct in terms of being the best. I wish that there wasn't as many conference games now, so that more out of conference games can be scheduled. I would like the old days of college football scheduling to come about-those games like Penn St.vs. Alabama, Auburn vs. FSU, USC vs. LSU (they did play before---way back), Miami vs. Notre Dame, etc. Living in the South as well, some SEC die-hards (yes, even the Vandy fans) swear that their league is the only one there. This is probably because before Jacksonville, Carolina, and Tennessee arrived, the closest NFL franchises were New Orleans, Atlanta, Tampa Bay (all were bad at long periods of time), and Miami. I love SEC football, being a part of it once in my life, but I think the thing about being the best conference is just smoke and mirrors, and a lot of TALK

You are so right...
and that Stanford game was the worst loss in Trojans history IMO--would have been another NC without that one. At least half of the SEC teams are garbage or mediocre every year--just like every other conference. So why does the media create this illusion? At least, in the PAC-10, most of the teams rise up every now and then to do something special. But look at Ole Miss, Miss St., Alabama, Vandy, S.C., Kentucky (last year was an abberation), suck each and every year for as long as I can remember. Bama hasn't been a top team since Jay Barker. That's half the conference that, in it's best years are mediocre. You cannot say that about the Pac-10.

Vandy has sucked every year. The rest of the SEC have had their moments recently.

I LOVE VANDY!!!!!! It is a great school of learning, probably the best in the SEC by far.

I am a Cal grad and live in the San Francisco Bay Area which is Pac-10 country. I think a lot has to do with east coast bias which was mentioned earlier. Plus the SEC has a contract with CBS which shows there games nationally each week between SEC teams. As for the Pac-10 there conference games will only be seen in states with Pac-10 teams. That probably has a lot to do with it. As for the SEC vs Pac-10 I still think the SEC would win most of the games head to head with the exception of USC. If you ask me at times USC is almost the 33rd team in the NFL. That is my .02 cents worth.
