Default Question Of The Day

Today's question was inspired by a fellow coach and "RoadWarrior" who goes by the name of Boston21 on this forum. Yesterday was turned into a magical day, he made the trip to Raider Land and a 2 hour session turned into a full 9 or 10 hour affair as the curtain was let down at "RaiderNation" and training camp was in full gear and Doug was able to witness first hand what has not been seen by anyone else. We were in high tweaking mode and player after player was turned out and transformed into his Bengal squad. It was one magical day where every base that was tweaked turned out beautifully and I was so inspired to continue tweaking as I saw the twinkle in his eyes like a kid in a candy store. A big thanks also goes out to Earnest "Pittsburgh Coach" in the DFW league who is an excellent stregnth coach. So with all that being said here is the question:

As a M/F E/F hobbyist what part of the hobby do you enjoy the most:

1) Tweaking
2) Painting
3) Customizing

For me I love tweaking the most, turning ordinary bases into stars, turning stars into superstars. When I get into a zone, it's just something that's special, it's just hard to explain, and yesterday was one of those days.

Thanks Coaches,
RD

Thumbs up Good thread!

At this point I'd have to say tweaking. Looking to get into customizing soon.

Default tweaking is a way for me ......

I love tweaking too, ................and I think, for me anyway, ...................there is some sort of subconscious redemption therapy. I mean, remember when we were kids and you may have had six or twelve teams, and maybe each team had one star base, ..............and I think there was a deep yearning inside that many of us "wished" that we had more great bases on each team.

I think base tweaking makes many of us feel "empowered" to make something out of a base that otherwise would have been pretty much worthless, another thing to throw in the pile, but now we have the ability to make that base valuable for a team, a fellow coach, and/or a customer.................

I have said this before, and I stand by this statement, .................with all the innovations like facemasks, decals, etc, ..............the greatest advancement this hobby has made over the past eight/ten years is the "technology" of base tweaking.

Tweaking creates value for the coach, and for the hobby!

Default Let Me see

I enjoy painting,i have justed started to tweak with some real kind of results,i have not tried my hand at customs yet,but i am leaning seriously towards the tweaking side,i like the challenge that each base brings,& to bring out the next starter on my team & to see it make that big play, when i saw it come from nothing is very rewarding to me.i believe that the base is the soul where all the characteristic of the player comes from, some bases will not perform for any other figure except for the one it was tweaked for,i find that truly amazing.

Great point made, and something that has stuck with me from day 1 when "Reg" told me....Base + Player = Athlete

Default As discussed before...

...between coach Rip and I, there is nothing like pouring your favorite drink, putting on the music of your choice, and spending a few hours tweaking away. I get excited watching that figure + base = athlete.

Verrrrrrrry relaxing.

True Rip ....

.... I have not made my way into the "chop-shop" just yet. However, I find that tweaking fo rme is the major deal. Turning an otherwise standard base into something good form it's humble beginnings is special.

I really get a thrill when I tweak for other coaches while they sit across the table from me and they watch the process from start to finish and they receive that talent....it brings much joy to me when they get 'excited' as it moves from bum to star.

I have said this before, if we all are on the the same level talent wise, then all the games will be exciting and everyone has a chance to be successful.

I do enjoy painting and detailing and close second. it seems like that takes more time (than tweaking) but when you have to decide what figure will go at what position and then tweak after that....it is harder than tweaking for a prepainted figure.
