Default The Way I Play is Not Real and Not Meant to Be Real

I see this thing about dice and how it should have no part in the game. Last week, I had the pleasure of watching more than 500 guys play Warhammer games on two different floors with many rule variations. They played where they want to and with whom they wanted to play. Never once, did one person "rag" on another person's style of play or their contributions to the game. The only thing that mattered was that they all were there.

As I sit here and read the slam on "Dice", I get a little offended to the attacks. The reason being is that most come from a point of ignorance or non-success. In the past, there were guys who laughed at this method of play, only to come be a part of the DFW League, and enjoy the concept to the fullest. Many were like those who took their usual swipes at a style not there own.

I see this now. You will never get people to come to your tournaments if all you can do is criticize someone else's tournaments and style of play. Some guys just sit back and criticize and you offer them an opportunity to come show their style at your tournament and they refuse. Instead, they rather sit back and critique and envy what you do. To me, that's wrong and childish.

Too much time is being wasted doing it now. You think that if you slam on others efforts, tournaments, etc., if will bring you notoriety and potential players to your tournament. You really need to try another method. It does not work and will not work for the most part.

Coming soon, the CBSMF will be gearing up and my hope is that all will be a part of this thing. Everybody is needed and wanted. I will reach out to guys who may not like me and I may have quarreled with. It's no time for this slamming of various styles.

I am fortunate that I have had the chance to show guys in the Midwest, West Coast, Northeast, East Coast, and Deep South a style of play that I tell you over and over, it is not real football! And although it is not real football, you will have a lot of fun.

All I can promise from using "The Craps" is a lot of fun, high jinks, and a good time. Throw in a couple of stadiums and hype around that and you've got yourself a great weekend.

So if you do have a problem on playing with dice, I understand if you do not come to this type of event. But when you criticize things from a sense of ignorance, you will never get the type of interest in things you are trying to do either, because you will have alienated a lot of people who may like playing with those dice.

Just my opinion.

Honestly, I can say I have played under a number of rules. Texas Shootout, Buzzball, TAEFL, NHFL, sticks, no sticks, dice, FOB and they each have merit and each were fun. It's not about picking one over the other. No matter how I play , there are different challenges that I have to work my coaching abilities around. I am just glad there are choices. The only regrets are that there are not more guys playing at each of these events. There should be waiting lists to join each of the leagues out there. Ultimately, it comes down to are you having fun playing? If you are then enjoy. If your not then adjust it so that you are having fun but at the same time respect those who choose to play it their own way because they are having fun.

FUN FUN FUN. If your hobby isn't fun then you might as well take a second job so that you don't have to worry about the stresses that come with your hobby.

Default Slamming

Why are people so easily offended on this board? Just because a couple of coaches disagree with certain things, words like "ignorance" are used to slam people. No one should be offended by disagreement! That's all I have to say on this subject.

Default Oh yeah....

....and quite frankly I am one that is tired of the debate from some. I will run across them one day and there will be no words from me on the subject. However there is a few that I can't wait to see because of the disrespect they have for others style of play and the way they have presented themselves to the community. It is a lot of chatboard chatter that in front of one another none of that goes on. Me on the other hand I come from the old school if you gonna say something be able to say it in person. Those of you that know me know that I ain't shy about saying what I have to say and backing it up.

I must say that I have a serious beef with some and when I see them it is gonna be on like popcorn. See ya soon!!!

Jealousy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unwillingness to learn or want to learn!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coaches would rather disagree rather than try to understand one another.
You know like when you played football, guys would be mad at you because you were faster than them, catch better than them and the coach started you over them. Youre on the same team, but they hate you because you have something they don't have., or are just blessed to have skills that they don't have.

I think it's the same thing on this board. There are coaches on this board who are far better at things that I am not. I don't hate them neither am I jealous of them.

Look this hobby is the human body, each of us are a member of that body. Why is the eye upset with the ear ? Why is arm mad at the leg ? They all play a role in the fuction of the body.

The same holds true with out hobby, it they are not the ones to invent something or come up with a good idea, etc then it's like the teeth being mad at the tongue.

You know the only problem with this convo about styles ...the message is the same no matter how you break it down and it is the same dude saying the same stuff and after awhile "WE"...the hobbyist get tired of you Anthony and now a couple of your disciples, telling us about intelligence and football IQ and all this pertains to what? how can someone get on this chat forum and constantly tell us how unintelligent we are and expect us to accept it as truth......... first off i for one am not jealous of anything that anyone has created in this hobby of ours....you want to impress us give us something that we can use to improve real life situations....... and please stop talking down to us.... You are trying to simulate real football...... what level are you trying to simulate...like i have written to you privately...the only style of play where the coach is in the field of play employing his football iq on less knowledgeable players is at the lowest level of football...in NY it is call pop warner (mighty mites) ....down in the maryland area they call it little league so please explain to us uneducated football folks what level of football are you truely trying to imitate ....

In the NFL the coach calls the play and the players either run the play called or audiible out of it based on the look that is presented...you know this ....you Coach...you as the coach stay on your side of the field right but do you call time out during the play and then run out on the field and make adjustments then let the play progress and then call timeout...and then run out there and make adjustments again...nah thats not how it is done in real life .... i understand all the concepts and what we are trying to achieve so don't tell me i am close minded that is untrue ...you opened my mind alittle i see your vision....but please Bruh stop insulting our intelligence...we are not stupid not a single one of us on this chat forum.........Let's Unite under this Forum and stop segregating the hobby....... play the way you enjoy....
Stop Pushing Your Product....if it is that good then it will sell it self........

It's true that for some reason EFL'ers are much more likely to get upset with each other than wargamers will but there is a reason I think. Wargamers compete one game at a time. Electric football coaches compete with each other game after game year after year for dominance.

"warhammer games" ... that's funny. Warhammer is one specific company. there are hundreds of different game from fantasy, sci-fi, and historical with as you said many rule variations. Personally I don't like warhammer. I like historical and smaller scale.

--Sigh--

Can't we just play the game and have fun?

These arguments are all very tiring.

I used to think that the one thing holding back this game was that there were so many different rule sets and that the game would NEVER grow again to it's height in popularity because of it. The new player is just overwhelmed with all of the rule and figure variations. Now, after closing in on one year of playing the game again (and doing my best to understand the different ways to play the game), it is us, the Coaches, that hold it back. All this negative debate, name calling, arrogance, and self-promotion does is drive people away.

If you have a product to sell or "style of play" to sell, advertise it in a positive way that shows it's merits. If it sells, then great you made some money. If it doesn't sell, then maybe we do not want your product. Advertising that attacks it's customer base seems very anti-productive to me. Why would I want to purchase a product from someone who calls me "ignorant" or even worse, "jealous"? Please...
