Miniature Football is not real football period!!
This discussion pops up every now and again.With it ,comes the arguement whats realism and whats not!!Then comes the insult to styles.Electric football is not real no matter what u do you have to modify the rules to get what YOU are looking for to make it seem real or fun to you!!Nobodys right or wrong tudor made the rules so that it had a base from which to start from.Dice and passing sticks charts are all items that help achieve what to game does not!They are great invention for the game.Stop and pop that Mike Pratt calls it is fun to those who like it!! Passing Sticks help those who dont like passing with the TTQB dice get the injuries and penalites that arent in the game on its own with the Burgess style u can get the cuts and reactions u could see in a football game!!But whos right??No one because this is a game, fantasy!! Its not real basically a board game with moving parts!!Fun is the objective and winning is nice too!!But I think fun is what most are looking for base on the time and money put into it(the game) hobby.Lets stop this one about styles and passing its getting old!!

EXACTLY!!! No matter what....this game, regardless of playing format & style, is to be played for fun and enjoyment. There is no ONE style for all. That's what makes this game/hobby great. It can be modified to what each player wants it to be. So, I disagree in part because I do believe we should openly debate and discuss all styles so more people can be exposed to and find new ways of playing that may interest them and draw more people into the hobby. But there is no need to critique each style or opinion as being better than another. No need for harsh criticism or admonishing of our fellow hobbyists....be positive, inquisitive and supportive....just like the above post!!!! Just kidding. We all just need to not take any topic (or ourselves) so seriously and enjoy/respect the unique variety and diversity of Electric Football. |

I agree KTowner
on what you say but I also do take offense when people "bait" you into conversation by saying things which are critical of a style of play. I have always wondered, "What is that the critque wants?" Do he/she want you to play their style of play and that's it? The criticism of a style such as the Shootout style is harsh instead of focusing on your own style of play and showing people what excites YOU about what you do.
I don't need a cheerleader to tell anyone of the Shootout style. I tell people this is what it is. You are more than welcome to be a part of it but if you don't, I understand. I will continue to sing the praises of the Shootout style because I know the joy it gives people who play it. But some guys criticize it, saying "Monopoly, unreal, stupid, etc". Some are condensing, saying they are the only ones who know football and are simulating football. To me, that does not matter because what we've got here is miniature football. Brainless, heartless, plastic athletes who will do whatever you tell them to (or at least try). But there's no need to be condensing or try to bait people into conversations that have raged on for many years just to try to stimulate rhetoric. Talk about what you do. If you are having a tournament, the worst thing you can do is come on here and slam another tournament or person's style of play. You will never get the numbers you want. All I can tell people is that we will continue to play the game (and it is a game) with dice, with stadiums, with custom figures, with throwing QBs, and anything else that adds to the excitement of our experience. And I will always wonder, "Just what is it you want from me or the football community as a whole?" Reg |

You know what's funny....NFL Pro football isn't real football anymore either. I would just as soon watch a replay from the 60's and 70's as some of this stuff we see now.

I just truly believe the discussion gets more personal because the styles were developed from the heart and soul of the people debating. It snowballs as it goes along...but I don't think ANYONE means to personally offend anyone else when debating styles. BUT, it comes across as a personal attack when someone doesn't agree with or likes another style better because the particular style of play DOES represent the creator's personal beliefs of how the game should be played. That's when these conversations go to another level. The unintentional personal style rejection becomes a misinterpreted personal slam.....which then evolves into INTENTIONAL personal slams. I think everyone could understand if they would step back and try to see it that way. Reggie....you are truly a class act and an exception to the norm when it comes to representing, debating and promoting your own work. You always have been. You are a rare breed...but for most other cases, it's easy to understand how others make debating personal styles evolve into personal attacks. It doesn't justify it at all...it just makes it easier to understand. I just still don't think those that do even intend it to come across that way, especially at first. But it does...then it snowballs into something ugly. I don't like it...but I can understand it. Just my 3.5 cents. |

No need to debate
Here the deal thier is no need to debate the different styles because every one is right!!Its then up to what u prefer what fits your goals!This becomes personal when you critisize someone how they like to play this game!!When all u have to do is not play that way!!Its simple!Why this keeps coming up??So many other things to talk about football and efl then I think this sucks or why play this way? men come on lets move on from this!!

But if we don't discuss other styles of play how will anyone (especially newbies) learn anything??? I still say debating the styles are necessary in reaching others and teaching alternative styles to anyone who may be interested. We must openly discuss and debate...we just need to be mature about it. I would not have come back to the hobby had it not been for learning about newer methods of playing that appealed to me. If you don't want to see or get involved in the debates....don't click on them, read or respond/contribute to them. That is your right. But I believe we need the open discussion to advance the hobby. There are many styles of play for many people to adapt to what they prefer and what is fun for them. If not for discussing them here....how would anyone know they exist?? Just saying. |

let me reword this
Not so much a debate but a discussion here how I play try this style you know?What people try to do in here is my way works and is real yours is not!!That starts a fight every time or it worded like those you use dice are playing monoply or passing sticks is not real passing!!you see??Thats what we have to stay away from thats a cancer its eats away at everything about us!!Thier are many ways to play electric football thats a fact so why continue to debate whats to debate??Nothing ever happens but insults!!
