Default Why aren't the EFDW football used ? also the ice cream football's

coaches

does anyone allow the EDFW football anywhere. Also the ice cream football's ? When practicing with geno's TDQ I FIND IT ALOT EASIER FOR MYSELF to handle the edfw football's.
Many may say they are too big. But, when the ball fly's off the TDQ'S. hand and hit the players. It hits him point blank(nose of the ball) and not fly sideway's from what i can tell. So, if the player is getting hit with the nose of ball, does it make a difference what size the ball is. Again, wouldn't they player be hit or missed depending on the nose of the ball. Is it that if it is a slight miss, the bigger football may graze the arm or torso of the receiver. (I would not buy this).

some have said well the ice cream balls knocked a player over. (well pick him back up)

So why are the miggle cheap little felt football's the standard and everthing else is outlawed. One sat at the b.a.m i was talking with a coach from another league who said they pass with there hands. He told me they cut half of a cigarette butt and pass with that.

bottom line is it is much easier for me to handle the edfw football's but many say no!!!!!!!!! just wondering why

Default A heavier ball...

of that smaller size does fly through the air better.

In fact so does a regular football - that is heavier - just ask the Mythbusters.

BTW - in the NDEFL - we allow any of those footballs.

I use the ice cream ball...it's my favorite. I do think that the EFDW ball breaks away to much from the others in size. We allow it in the TAEFL but I would prefer that it was not allowed just to establish more of a standard size. With the TDQ, you can darn near chuck a watermelon, so what's to stop us from getting bigger and bigger football's. We often talk about standards in the size of players and weights of bases but seldom discuss the football itself. This should be interesting....!

I used an EFDW ball for a while and loved it. The only problem I had is that on occasion on short passes, I knocked my receivers over.

But now that we have the passing target in the BMEFA, I might well go back to it. Haven't decided.

I'd like to get my hands on some just to practice with them a bit and relive the old days.

Default Hey Roo, I Love Them Too

ROO,

There's a guy's who sells them on ebay every week. he sells them 10 in a bunch. I think it is 8 or nine dollars. I just personally have a better time with them. In todays game, speed is pretty much everything. You have passing systems where you have only 15 to 20 seconds to pass. It is just more comfortable for me to pick up the slightly bigger football than to fiddle around with the small white felt miggle football's. I hope some are listening and allow the bigger size football's into leagues. YOU CAN MISS WITH THOSE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER FOOTBALL. MY THING IS, IF YOUR GONG TO HIT A TARGET, YOUR GOING TO HIT IT NO MATTER WHAT FOOTBALL YOU USE. SAME PRINCIPAL IF YOUR GOING TO MISS. When coaches miss, they miss by a mile. Not just by a hare where it grazes anyone.

Default golf aspect

coaches

When using football's for passing, why can't we look at it like golfing. You can have all three football's on your sideline

1)miggle small felt
2)ice cream football's
3edfw football's

you have all football's at your disposal for different situations. Like in golf, the have a

1) 9 iron
2) a putter
3) can't think of the other names of the club's

you can choose a football for each situation

close passes, the smaller ball

longer passes, the edfw or ice cream balls

you have a choice for your passing sitiuations

if you like, a rule can be implemented that if you wan't to use the edfw or ice cream football, your receiver must be at least 15 to 20 yards down field. or 12 to 20. however you wan't it.

i personally don't think these other football's should be ignored because someone thinks the small football are the standard. Im sure miggle did not make the ice cream football's for the taste.

one more time. IF IT KNOCKS A PLAYER OVER, WILL IT KILL YOU TO PICK THE PLAYER BACK UP. OR, IF IT KNOCKS THE PLAYER OVER JUST THINK OF IT AS A DIVING CATCH OR A PLAYER JUST GOING LOW TO THE KNEES TO MAKE THE PLAY. DOWN AT THE SPOT.

You know, I'm gonna plead ignorance here and look for guidance from my brethren.

What's an ice cream football?

Default efdw balls

We do allow EFDW balls in the Bluegrass EFL. I use them and have for several years. Yes occassionaly I knock over a receiver. but there is no question about whether the pass is complete. Have not used them with the TDQ yet.
The seller is Bill Grant, who originally sold under EFDW (Electric Football Discount Warehouse). That is why they are called EFDW balls.
