Default How to build teams with so many different rules sets?

I was looking over rules of different leagues in Michigan as well as Miggle's tournament rules.

What I find interesting is that while there are league weight restrictions, there also are restrictions on what figures can be used. Both leagues do not allow 67 big men. So it appears that a coach would have to use either standard figures or another company's figures or some customized figure.

So all this begs the question, how do you decide how you want to build a team when you may be looking at 3 or 4 different rule sets that you need to comply with?

Also, are there leagues and tournaments that allow the use of all types of figures?

The Miggle Tourney is only once a year. It is best to build a team based on where you will be playing the most. If you plan on playing solitairre, then have fun and do whatever you want. If you want to join a league then build your first team based on their rules. Once you get deeper in the hobby you will find places you like to play and guys you like to play against and will develop teams that you use for these games. In time you may even join a road warrior program or national league where you fly in once or twice a year and get all your games in against the local guys over a weekend. My first tourney was Buzzfest in Harrisburg so I built my team to their rules. I have taken that same team and played in Texas where just about anything goes and competed well. I, however, was at a definite disadvantage in man on man matchups due to my lighter weight figures and less creative bases. Many, will have different teams for certain rulesets and others like myself, will go with what they got and make it work as best as they can. Winning comes second to the fellowship for me where others are there to compete for the trophies. The main thing is have fun!

Default build your team with your idenity in mind

i have played in many formats with the same team. the key to building your teams is to create the type of team that you want to coach ....

sounds easy but it is a little more to it than that.

you need players that can run.....

...players that are tough as well as strong.....

.... skill guys that can get open.........

I will build a team to stop the run and be able to run .... out of that you will need to develop a passing game.

decide if you are going to be a 3-4 defense or 43, but stay true to those styles as you add players to your team.

Default Vince, Shootout Leagues allow...

all company figures, bases, and anything else. The only restrictions comes on the weight standard which is at 4.0 grams.

As far as units, on defense you can only have 2 cover corners and 2 boat bases on both offense and defense. Other than that, we do not discriminate against anything. We think it's wonderful to show all figures of all types on the field.

Only if a company does not produce figures anymore, we will allow two of those figures. But if that company can not supply an entire league with those products, it is limited. Miggle, Buzzball, Excalibur, and Footballfigure.net do not have those type of problems as you can readily order from any of these companies. Anything else comes in question but we do love custom figures.
