Default Applying facemasks

On my Carl Eller figure and now my Chuck Forman, my masking tape chinstraps get in the way and cause the face mask to turn out not clean (they clump together, hard to position, ect.) Is there a specific way to apply my chinstraps "clean" so I can then apply my facemask "clean?"
Thanks,
Taylor

I generally apply the chin guard first, I use a little, I mean LITTLE drop of superglue to hold that in place.

Now you have 'wings',

apply a LITTLE glue to the tips on the right, with a toothpick smooth your straps into place on the side of the helmet, do the same for the left side, let it sit. Sometimes I'll even hit it with a coat of finish so it really sets.

Let dry.

You're now ready to add the facemask.
