The Woes of a Passer
In the DFW League, the Dallas Cowboys rank as the winningest franchise in league history. We have perennially had some of the great receivers in the league and the trigger man to deliver the ball.
In the DFW League, injuries play a key role in the success of a franchise and with this understanding, the passing game is paramount. Last week, I played a guy who has never beat me in the DFW League. I can say he has beaten Michael Robertson in the Texas Shootout semifinals. However, when we played each other, the game was a total domination by the Cowboys. However, on 4 occasions, 4 interceptions were tossed by myself/Tony Romo! It was one of those games that you wish you could rewind. However, as always the case, when the Cowboys lose, there is much laughter. "How could you let that happen?" is usually the question asked. I keep trying to remind people that that other team laced their cleats up too and besides, he played a helluva game. A week earlier, I hosted another coach who the previous year, beat me at his home in a pushing match 19-16. He played in the 2005 Super Bowl and lost on the final play on a 54 yard FG. So this is without a doubt, a top competitor. In the game him and I had 2 weeks ago, we suspended the game at the end of the 3rd quarter because I was winning 52-13. No phone calls, no nothing! However, the passing was on! I think I went like 27-31-430 yards in that game. In the one that I loss, I had great stats but with 4 intercepts. Ever interception came down in the red zone on the goal line. We walked away from that game not unhappy because we felt we dominated the opposition but this has been a trying season. "The Redemption Tour" took a few bumps along the road but now, we are back on track to capture our 4th DFW crown. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_6kFuobQ64 |
