I seem to be able to tweak for strength, but...
I'm having problems with speed tweaking.
I'm pulling the prongs out. Angling them. Flashing them. Sometimes things get better, or worse. Can't seem to get anything consistent. |

I know there are people that "pull" prings but I never do that. For tweaking, the length of the prongs is CRTICAL and I just find it hard to control the length of the prongs if you pull them (to make them longer). I prefer slightly trimming them if anything with flat nose nail clippers. If the front right prongs are longer than the front left prongs the base will arc left (and vice-versa). The back prongs also have an influence but less so I find if they are squeezed thin (which makes the base run smoother).
For speed you still want to sqeeze the back prongs (a little less than you would for strength) but the key to speed is to have the prongs close to vertical instead of angled back and also to "flash" the prongs- hit them with the lighter and get a nice smooth finish on the ends of the prongs. If you want to see speed bases, I recommend the buzzball speed bases.
