You didn't get the Point !
Johnny_Blaze , Hello to you I hope things are going well for you . I just sent you a PM . Please don't be offended . I'm looking at something much deaper than NFL teams . The game of football needs representation just as much as the teams need it .
This is just my responce to this post ." A childs game ? " Now if I had said that every one would be all over me , and that is another point how can a childs game be a clear representation of real football ? Shouldn't Adults have a game to play ? Why as adults are we still playing a childs game ? That is the question that many out side the hobby want to know . So what is more important , team representation , or football representation ? This is just a question so please don't take it the wrong way , just trying to get people to think out side of the box . Sorry if any one was offended ! Quote:

NFL- Teams and Leagues
This is the end of an era and frankly as a hobby we have been spoiled.
I always assumed you could order the ole' fab five figures and their pro teams. I have been in this hobby my whole life and its sad to see that young kids cannot order teams like the Lions, Bears, Packers, Falcons and Giants and the rest in the fab five figures. The fab five figures will always be classics and have a place on any electric football field. But you can still get them on E-bay or paint your own team. If done well, the college line can be a big seller. Miggle still sells bases, and they will come out with new colors. This could be a great new Era. We just have to be POSITIVE, band together under the MFCA, and keep paintin' and playin' just like always. Miniature football WILL SURVIVE without the Miggle/NFL combination. This is not the end, but a new beginning. Steve

The Point I am trying to make
Yes for the pro efler yes the hobby will survive but what about the youth the next genarations of coaches??To get started about 60.00 could get you a few teams and bases if you had a board and you are playing!!For pro coaches spending 200.00 and up is nothing you guys love the game that much!! But miggle not selling NFL teams is the end of an era!!EFL is about the NFL it is come on no doubt about it!!!!reliving old games playing your favorite team having control over you favorite player is what makes the game real for us!!!Young coaches should have a way to come in this hobby without spending 1000s of dollars check this out Regs 308 is about 300, decals are about 30. to 50 for figures are about 12-25 have some one paint for you about 100 a real stadium about 1000 this is fine you the pro but what about the young kid who just curious about this hobby!!I hope someone is stepping up and about to take this hobby to the next level or begin to see the beginning of the end!!!

I thought I had posted about this before.. But obviously it wasn't this thread.. maybe it was Miggle.. doesn't matter either way..
I still think Miggle not having the NFL teams is a negative for the hobby as a whole.. What few numbers of young people that would have embraced EF as we have has just gotten a little smaller. It's that game with the Super Bowl teams that would have caught their eye.. And going through the enclosed catalog from Miggle looking for new teams.. And the NFL not being there hurts. All my NFL teams I painted by hand myself.. So it doesn't effect me directly.. This "NEW" manufacturer that now has the NFL license.. I hope they do have at least a small interest in electric football and figures.. It COULD be McFarlane.. And they could have purchased the license that would make them the exclusive holder for ANY figures of any size.. There is no guarantee that they will EVER come out with figures small enough to play EF.. And if they do.. at what weight??? This whole thing is now a wait and see that could turn into waiting for something that will never come about. It could be the end of all NFL EF sized figures.. That are legal and available to the masses for a decent price. |

Wipe away the tears.
There seems to be a lot of gloom and doom regarding this subject, sounds like a funeral in here. Cheer up! Yes the NFL is a big part of the game, but its just a part..... we will adapt to whatever comes as we have no choice.
So man up and play ball and stop crying over the NFL!

Crying has some merit!!
Well I hear ya but this is big!!!Look you will keep playing so will I but heres how I see it I own a hobby store and I sell the electric football game that miggle sold!! A guy bought one about a month ago with some teams He isnt like us wont join a league just wanted to play a game he had as kid with his kid!! he is not going to go on ebay and bid for teams or pay me to paint a team, it means the end of the road for his efl fun and thats the bigger picture. This hobby is not big at all what hurt Mike landsman was the decals and other figures seeing he didnt change the nfl deal had to go!!Think about this right now if you wanted the ravens in white 22 players you couldnt get them you would spend least 60 bucks and do them your self!!No NFL teams end of the road!!!

End of the road for some....
I suppose there will be some that will quit playing because they can't get a bag of fab 5 players for $8.00 and that's too bad. I guess some just have to be left behind and others move forward. At this point Miggle hasn't thrown in the towel, so why should we? For TRUE Efler's, miniature football is not just a hobby, its a passion, a way of life. I am surprised so many poeple are writing our obituary for products that quite frankly were not that good for a number of years.
Want NFL teams? Get on a chatboard, get some painting tips, bid on E-bay. This stuff is out there. Join the MFCA and start networking with the rest of us. And finally, stop crying, this hobby is a LONG way from dying. Gotta go through some pain to grow sometimes. This is just the next step in our evolution. So.... Be positive, be patient, stop crying and play ball

There's a difference between crying.. and reality.
Besides.. There's nothing we can do about it either way.. All we can do is hope for the best.. I want what is best for this hobby and I'd like to see more young people getting interested.. And I do hope the college teams take off for Miggle. Perhaps enclosing different college teams in different regions will help with the newbies joining in. I did go over to the NFL site.. to find a contact.. to let them know some of us aren't too happy.. Did go to an NFL biz site.. And guess what.. Right there.. in print.. Licensing STARTS at $100,000... So we can't blame Miggle. There just isn't that kind of $$$ in EF. Not that this matters.. or will change your mind about my "coming to the defense of Miggle and EF"... I have the company that produces the Tornado Alley F5 bases.. The only people with dialed bases other than Miggle. And I want Miggle around. |

My concern is for the future of the hobby
I have all the efl stuff I need I have been collecting and playing efl since 1968 .I came on the scene with miggle in 1995.Having no NFL teams is a negative on this hobby you can cheer and play and all that, but we need NFL teams to ever go on thats a fact!!!Every guy in this hobby knows it what we need to do is find out what we can do or find out whats happening with this deal we are the people who buy it this stuff!!!

Overreaction
No one knows what's going to happen with the future, but the for now the hobby is alive and kicking without the Miggle selling licensed NFL teams. Not everyone collects NFL teams. I have been back in the hobby for 14 years and have purchased a grand total of two (2) pre-painted NFL teams. Miggle must also believe this as they are still in business, selling boards, bases, figures, chin straps face mask and the like. They seem intent on surviving and so should we, without the NFL.
Our league will still start in September 28 plus coaches STRONG and life goes on. As a practical matter the fact that Miggle does not hold an NFL license has NO effect on my participation in the hobby and I doubt I am alone. If anyone disagrees with me fine, but in doing so please provide a list of leagues that a have folded or even a solitaire player who has given up on the hobby due the to change in the Miggle catalouge. Minature football does not need an NFL license to survive.
