Evolution of my teams
I wanted to post some pictures of how my painting evovled over the past couple of years. I think there is a nice look to all types of painting, from basic tudor paint jobs to the most advanced painterly effects. I have old stock teams and detailed customs, and I like all of them (except perhaps for the mid 90's miggle figures that were a bit too sloppy). These are the teams that I started custom painting with comments on what I was trying to do with each.
1. Chiefs/Packers were the first teams I painted myself. I was using stock Miggle sticker numbers with everthing else painted. I wanted each to look like a miggle player with added individuality. 2. Colts/Saints-Miggle numbers/everything else painted. This was what I thought was going to be the Super Bowl in 2006, but the bears won. 3. Ravens/Broncos-just two uniforms that I like. Miggle numbers/ everything else painted. Broncos were the first team I tried to do custom figures for, but they were a rather akward. 4. Cowboys giants-Miggle numbers/ everything else painted. Cowboys had sevral custom poses. I exagerated the Cowboys pants color to look like the glow in photos from Texas stadium. I really like the giants red uniform and had to do them. My wife is from New York and is a Giants fan while the Cowboys are a very close second favorite of mine, so my kids are split on these two teams. As a result, this matchup is the most common and fierce of any we have. 5. I made the white jersey Giants when they won all of the road games to get to the super bowl. They were miggle numbers with everything else painted. The Patriots were the first team I used facemasks on, and I had several better custom poses as well. They were originally painted numbers and everything else, but I started making decals and a few of the players have decal numbers and names. 6. Bucs and Seahawks- first two teams with decals logos and names and numbers. I still plan to go back and add facemasks but I haven't gotten to that yet. The final effort on teams I made were the 1969 Vikings and Chiefs which both can be seen in my post for the '69 chiefs. I have several more teams on the list to do, but I just can't quit making individual players. I will make myself finish some teams as the NFL season gets started. |

I would love to learn how you do it...
I have always been an avid model builder, and I pride myself on my attention to detail and craft, and I like to think that I'm pretty good at what I do,...
but you are... AMAZING!!!
