Of course not !

I can't wait to see this "sculpted face".

I just come back from the shop, buying some serious and expensive glue. I'll make tests this morning, and this evening I'll sculpt some things on the fig

Hi,

this morning I work an hour on the fig. I finally choosed gel super glue (like Reginald advised). Styren glue doesn't work at all


So, first I reinforced the feet and legs assembly, with little metal bits. (first pic).THen, I glued them.


After that, I took a bit of Duro modelling paste (professional sculpting paste, often called "green stuff" or kneadatite). The pros of this product are that it's very sticky (once it dries, you can't remove it), and it's elastic too (so it never cracks). The cons are that the paste can't be sanded, so you have to work on "fresh" paste, once it dries, you can't really fix the problems.

It's an epoxy paste, you have to mix equal bits of yellow and blue paste....making "green stuff" (pic2)


Then, I rapidly sculpted a simple little football (pic3)



Finally, I started to fill the holes I did cutting the figure parts. After that, I started to re-sculpt the figure parts I needed.



This evening , after work, if I'm not too lazy I'll sculpt mr Heitmann face. If I'm too lazy, I'll improve the chest of the figure to look like more the real athlete I 'm trying to reproduce.

Now, the next steps : I glued the football between the athlete legs, and glued the right arm too. Now, I have to sculpt the missing part of it.

Now seeing the figure, I see that the figure pose is not really a "in game" pose, but more a "2 seconds before play" one. The center is taking his position and stance.

To complete a real snap game pose, I should have cutted the figure half, and curve the back of it, so the athlete 'd be able to really take the ball, in the so particular position. But...what is done is done, it's my first custom attempt after all


After diner, I'll continue the work.

Instead of Green Stuff, try using Apoxie Sculpt. You can find it at Aves studio.com. www.avesstudio.com. It is similiar to Greenstuff but it dries slower allowing more sculpting time. Also, it can be sanded with an emory board. I use gray Apoxie because it shows up better on the figure while sculpting. Frank Jacobs (franny-j-boy) gave me this tip.

thank for the tip, I didn't know that product Usually I use Milliput Superfine when I need a epoxy paste that I can sand. I'll take a look on that.

But green stuff is a great paste too ! Especially for his sticky and elastic properties

Apoxie sculpt stays sticky for about twenty minutes. It dries in about three hours. Check it out. Love the fig so far.
