Default What do you do for research?

Hey Coach,

What do you do for research? How do you compile who the players are and will your website relfect all the players in the league?

I think that's great going back in time! Now will your players be like traditional players or will you have companies such as FF.Net, Buzzball, and others or will this be a strictly Fab5 league?

I am stoked just having the chance to read about the great players from the past. Chris, also do some newspaper type articles with just the black-and -white background. If you need, I can send you a few Word articles that I put in newspaper form and let you do something like that.

We need to document these type of leagues. I would like to create a journal of all the solitaires across the country and just put different articles in a binder.

Also, I will be in Nashville (Burns in Dickson County) for 3 days so if you get a chance, come down/or up to Burns and let's hang. I tried to get Rose to go to the Tennessee/SD Chargers game with me on Christmas but she don't want to go! I still may venture over to the stadium.

But I digress! Get some pics up real soon and show us what's going on!

Default League reseach

Attached is a document that is the prelude to a website giving some of the background and what I am doing with this league, which should answer most of the questions you are asking.

I do plan on doing a newpaper type report on games and progression of the season.

Research is from a couple of Pro Football Encyclopedias and several internet pro football history websites.

Let me know what dates you are going to be in Burns and how to contact you. Burns is probably about an hour or so from Nashville and where I live in Nolensville. Would love to visit with you if you have time and invite you to come see my EF and football stuff.

I think Ben, my stepson, is going to the Titans/Chargers game. I know he would enjoy seeing you. He has always enjoyed talking to you when he has had the chance.

Here is a recap and summary of my first game in a "newspaper" type article.

Thanks,

Default Great Job Chris!!!

How did that unbalanced line work. It looks from the stats that it struggled but what do you think?

Did the single wing play okay. Ain't that just a form of the wildcat?

That's a great start coach!

Keep doing what you do! Also, what is a BB? I know it's gotta be a back of some kind but what is the correct name for this nomenclature?

Take care,

Reg

Default Also, I did not know Red Grange and...

Bronco played on that '33 team?

I was looking over the rosters and you've got a lot of superstar players on some of those teams who ended up in HOF!

Wow, definitely keep us posted on this magical year and remember, there are always people watching and may draw inspiration from your work.

Default The Single Wing

Thanks for the comments guys.

Reggie,

BB stands for Blocking Back which from everything I have read and studied on this is actualy the QB. When I first saw the Dolphins run the WIldcat, I recognized it immediately as the old Single Wing. When I played football as a freshman in high school, the Single Wing is what we ran.

In the Single Wing the TB and FB are the two primary backs and the TB was the primary passer. Sammy Baugh who made passing a primary weapon with the Redskins in the '30's and '40's was actualy a tailback rather than a QB and lead the Redskins to the NFL championship in 1937.

I have other info on this and will post later tonight.

As far as the stats and the effectiveness of the Single Wing, this test game was to see how this was going to work. I was a bit disapointed, I did expect more offensive production. But I will keep working on it. It was during this time that the pass began to take over as the primary way to move the ball, rather than running.

Default Website?

What's your website Chris?

Also, I will be in Burns, Tennessee tomorrow evening. Friday, which is Christmas, we may be doing a lot of family things but I want to try to go to that Titans/Chargers game. I smell an upset!

How cold is it in Tennessee? It probably will be cold on that Tennessee River (Gosh I miss home) so I will have lots of layers. I know from my sister's house to the stadium, it's about 1/2 hour. But anytime I can get to an NFL game, I would like too and I love the Titans stadium. I just wish it was domed (I am spoiled here in Texas).

I use to love the elements but when you get old and decreped, you have no use for cold weather. You want a night blanket and a hot toddy and listen to some country music (sorry, wrong subject).

I digressed so much! Where is your website?

Reg
