MJ Zone Defense Design

I've been away from the chat board for a bit and wanted to get back on with some fun strategy evaluation of playing defense on a big board (a huge challenge). I wanted to share this zone defense that is designed to make the QB stay in the packet and beat you with long challenging passes. The defense is geared to stop the run and yet keep the RBs from being able to simply swing out of the back field for an easy catch and run. So when the game is on the line and you want to make the opposing QB "earn one", try this style of D and make him chuck it deep. Even if they catch it you have defense positioned deep to prevent the big play.

Tip: For the spinning TTCs I really like to use a Proline dial, they spin tighter and faster and "keep their feet" better.

I like the scheme... The concept is pretty simple and I like that you can fulfill the roles using multiple players.

The DE's could also be audibled to cover the flats. This would make the QB get happy feet from thinking that they have to be quick to unload the ball, only to have the passing lanes clogged and receivers covered underneath and over the top.... ((maniacal laughing))

I run a very similar scheme. My spinning TTC'S are located at different positions. Love to blitz from both sides off the ends

depends on which rule set but I keep a safety or 2 deep or have 1 run up, the other spin and a disguised safety run back from the line I love to blitz but in sequence..SweetKA, K-Lo, Pratt, schooled me on the 1st-3rd down blitz safety scheme...when to press and when to layback. Just watch the various Vets in the games ..one begins to find their blitz safet package that works for their style of play....Thanks for sharing the D and O look Coach.

We don't use the stationary base so I typically spin one or two deep safeties, however, I never thought of changing it up and spinning the CB's on a bump and run so they DON'T run all the way into the endzone if the WR gets lose...

I'll also try seeing how they spin with a proline dial, never tried...

This topic is very interesting. In my opinion, setting up the defense is the most difficult thing in that game, especially for non-specialists like me ! One simple example, I never thought about putting a defense player upside down the field :o
