Yep, it is a shame that McCoy went out. Gilbert made it exciting, finally, but without the Heismann candidates in the game for most of it, you could see that both teams offensively were just average. Defensively, they were both great!

Thumbs up Good game

Texas lost the game with the turnover before the half, flat out!

Default .

I know who the number 1 team is . . it's Texas. If McCoy doesn't get hurt, they win. If a freshman QB can come off the bench and keep the game as close as they did, even had a chance to win, then I say with McCoy healthy, they are the better team. SEC is overrated.

Default When a star player is out

the other team will let up. It's hard to motivate guys when you are going against a true freshman.

Bama is #1 in my book. They knock Colt out of the game. Shouldn't the defense get credit for that????

I liked the call before the half. It showed that Mack had a lil confidence in his QB to not just kneel on it. Give them an E for effort.

I felt really bad for Colt. He wanted to be out there, but that's football, they hitting out there and sometimes you get hit the wrong way.

They kept showing the game from a few years ago...Texas vs USC. This game doesn't come close to that. Way too many stars on the field that night. I only saw a handful of players that would be stars on Sunday...but you never know.

Ironic twist in the game. Washington Wizards star guard Gilbert Areanas is in big trouble these days.
In the title game Gilbert threw a INT to Areanas. (Are they related?)

Props to N. Sabin for winning the chip with 2 schools.....Only the 3rd coach to do so. The other 2 were Pop Warner, and some Jones guy, but they did it before the poll era.

#1 Bama. The Bear is probably smilin' now!

Default Bama

I love Texas but you have to give Bama the #1 and all the accolades that goes with it.

First couple of series, the defense kept Texas out of the end zone and then the play before the half was huge.

McCoy got hurt and he's my son's favorite college player - but Texas didn't have an experienced backup either. Injuries are a part of the game. Texas took the approach this year of developing their future replacement true freshman at QB by giving him mop up duty and that came back to haunt them instead of having a junior or senior ready in reserve. That's fine, but if McCoy goes down in a big game, you live and die with the true freshman.

I'm not a Saban fan, but the team plays solid football and they don't give championships based on "ifs" so congats to Bama and Saban.

This is probably why we need a college playoff.
We ended with 2 undefeated teams. Alabama and Boise State. I don't think that is the objective for the BCS. We don't know who the true number one is even though Bama was probably gonna crush Boise State.
Its hard for the BCS to make an argument against this.
It was fun to watch the pick 6 by the 300lb. D-lineman.

They played like champions and when the game got close they turned it up a notch so they had another gear. I agree that they let up and the freshman started showing his potential. I feel even with a junior or senior the lack of reps will hurt any QB.

Props to the Tide.

Default Well

I was rooting for and I thought McCoy would hurt Bama w/his feet in a four or five wide set, but obviously w/his injury that didn't happen. Bama hands down is the champ, its tough to say what if this or what if that, who knows. Even after McCoy goes down, Texas needed TD's not FG's, heck they looked like my Browns being satisfied w/FG's early in the first qtr. Texas' defense is (supposed to be) good enough, that even if 4th down doesn't result in a TD give them a chance to keep the field position. Texas goes up 6-0, on some questionable calls by Saban, and Bama comes back w/2 or 3 plays and takes the lead. Gotta get TD's w/that field position.
