EF Food (Beer Meatballs)
Here is my recipe for Beer Meatballs. Its very simple and inexpensive. I have used both home made and pre-cooked frozen meatballs. I prefer the pre-cooked because its less expensive and the home mades tend to break down alot faster. I have also used light beer and a Lauger. The Lauger is better.
INGREDIENTS: 5 lb. bag frozen pre-cooked meatballs 2 bottles of Lauger-Beer Sharp chedder Cheese Olive OIl Oregano Basil flour 2 large glass baking dishes Coat the bottom of baking dishes with olive oil and sprinkle with oregano and basil. Place meatballs in glass baking dish. You will use 2 large dishes for a 5lb bag. Bake on 350 for 25 minutes. As soon as the meatballs are done use tongs to remove meatbals from baking dishes and place into a large crock pot or an electric roaster. The roaster is better because you can stir meatballs every now and then to keep coated with gravy. Once the dishes are empty pour enough beer into the glass baking dishes so the dripping from the meatballs can incorprate into beer. About 1/3 of the bottle. Then sprinkle flour into beer to make a rue or gravy. I use about 1 tablespoon. Wisk with a fork to blend. Pour gravy into crock pot with the meatballs. Repeat with other dish. Once everything is in crock pot pour two bottles of beer into crock pot. Cook on high for about 1 1/2 hour with lid on. This steams the meatballs with the beer. Place meatballs into bun and add Sharp cheddar cheese. |
