You nailed it. Purple can be a tricky color, but you got it down. Using a different color for the wash does add a nice depth to the shadows.

The only thing I would push a little more is the hightlights on the skin. I just add a little caucasian tone to lighten darker tones for the hightlights. Just be sure that those stay only on the tops/highest areas of the details.

Wait untill you paint a few more and see how your style really developes. I am anxious to see.

By the way I still have to spend several hours on each figure. It just depends on if the detail is worth it for you. Personally I think it is .
