Not about me
When a game is played, and over, we should accept the result. Sometimes a call is wrong, sometimes a call is based on info that is not understood. This post is not about me or who I played or wanting anything but clarity of that ruling for the future of the game.
It was a few years ago the Giants had a bad call go against them in a crucial game. It was a few days later when the NFL said they made the wrong call. It did not reverse the game but it made the officials aware of their obvious effect on the fairness of play. I am a G-man fan but it is too early for me to remember the facts. Other fans of football in general will remember the game. It is not even about who made the call. It is about me understanding the rules. I believe they are our common ground. Opinions about them , how they were understood , can divide us. How do I educate myself on the rules if when I read them I see a call going one way and everyone else sees it going another way. I just happened to not understand. If I get my info from an opinion, all I do is expand that persons opinion. In the NFL the officials have a lot of schooling, experience, and it is their area of knowledge that is suppose to be their specialty. Now, how many times have we all seen a bad call. ???? The people all protest , but the call stands, and they come back to the next game and go through it again. It is part of the game. They don't spend hundreds of their own money, put aside a weekend to enjoy fellowship and fair game play like we do. We should expect nothing but the highest attempt to make the play fair for everyone. We have no officials, no officials school, but we do have this open forum. In my opinion it would be good if the posts about rules like this one, who have their origin in an actual play, not be taken as a bitch session about that play. No one will post their questions and no one will learn. They just won't put aside that money to make that trip. It should be about learning. I am actually learning. I thought the play was over but apparently I have a lot to learn about the rules. Way, way too much typing and thinking without my second cup of coffee. Now, on to the world that this hobby helps me cope with. You know the one with rising fuel costs, rising unemployment, higher taxes, and free agency. David Carr is hanging with the Giants for two days. I don't even know what to think about him signing. That is another thread for another message board. RS
