Some quick observations on my MF club....
i have been running an after school club now, going on 2 weeks. MIDDLESCHOOL AGE with one really eager (3rd grader) little brother of one of my kids. some random things i have observed............
1. INITIALLY, kids are attracted. 2. MANY kids dont even know how to play football, so the concept of a legal alignment on the field is foreign to them. 3. Because they dont know how to play, it is harder and takes longer, to teach the game of Electric Football. 4. The ones who stick around really enjoy it. 5. The pass simulation sticks are absolutely the best when it comes to teaching new kids the game. it presents the element of passing where i wouldnt otherwise have that oppurtunity in the beginning stages. 6. i had to modify the pass simulation to just using the short red stick. more passes are completed, and besides, i have not tweaked up the good bases yet for these guys. i will do a whole work shop on that when i see who sticks around for the long haul. 7. The pass simulation sticks present one problem that i see, that they dont. playing zone is a good way to defend the sticks. Zone is something they HAVE KNOW IDEA ABOUT. however, they SO have know idea, that they have know idea - they dont know. which is cool because more offensive big plays happen which for them, at this stage, leads to more fun. 8. i am so glad i gathered many boards on ebay and Modells ($20). i set up 3 boards now, but that will grow next week. i am so glad i gathered many extra teams to provide for them as well. its just a cool thing to not have tell some eager kid 'no son, you have to get the next game, just stand by and watch'. instead, i am lucky enough to say ' hey, you want to get in a game? come on over, lets sit down and play'. 9. The science teacher in whose room i use gets ********ed with me every morning because i dont put the desks back in the exact order he has them. Hey, it is my responsibility, but i let the kids play right up to the last minute, then we all rush outta there to get home. 10. its curious thinking to try and figure out who this game will stick with to our extent, who will enjoy it for a while then put it to the side, and who will play now and just forget all about it all together. 11. THE TUTORIAL DVDS FROM MIGGLE HELPS ALOT. ALSO SHOWED THEM ACTUAL GAME PLAY FROM "THE SHOW" LAEFL. NEXT WILL BE SMITTY'S DVD AND ANY OTHERS I GET ALONG THE WAY. and thats the story. Thanks again for your ear. Scott
