Athletes Are Not Grunts
Life is about choices. Chad chose to be an athlete. In that choice, I am sure he did not choose to be an athlete with a mediocre team. Due to that choice, he is not in Iraq. I being a veteran of Desert Storm understand that once bullets start flying one has no choice but to stay and fight. Crying about it will result in a quick death. That is the difference between grunts and athletes.
Chad Johnson, Eli Manning, John Elway, and Tony Dorsett are and were not faced with death; therefore, they can and could afford to dispute a contract deal with a team. Eli Manning was drafted by the Chargers. He rejected their interest in him. He is now a Super Bowl champion as a result of his dispute. John Elway was drafted by the Baltimore Colts. He refused to play for them. Lord knows where his football legacy would have been if he went there. It probably would have been in baseball. Tony Dorsett was drafted by the Seahawks before the Cowboys acquired him. If he had played in Seattle during that time, I don’t think his legacy would have been much. Refusing to play in Seattle positioned him to be one of the most prolific runners in the game under Tom Landry. Maurice The Electric Coach
